hello
we're looking to change providers but don't have a BT line. installation of it would cost £125. we only really want internet, don't desperately need a phone line (though would be happy to have one) and don't need tv as we have a digibox.
can anyone name providers that don't use a BT line? thanks

BT are doing a half price connection offer at the moment so £62.50. Might be the best option if you want broadband.
Otherwise you could get 3G card (if signal available in your area) or wireless broadband like this http://www.kijoma.com , http://www.airzonebroadband.co.uk/or http://www.w20.net/ but whether there is a provider in your area is another question. The speeds arent as fast as using a landline though.0 -
I'm moving to 3G. BT are bloody useless these days.£8k to pay off before Jan 2011! Was 28k to pay off by Jan 2010 though so I'm happy0

Well you're stuck then. You'll need a provider to install a copper line for you if you want to use an ADSL provider. BT arent the only ones that do this, theres plenty of other providers that do, Phone Co-Op, Madasafish, Plusnet. Google them terms & there will be more info on their sites.
Apart from BT's half price connection (on condition of 18 month contract), you're looking around £110 at the very least for a connection cost.0
