Why are mobile charges such a rip off?

  • The best thing is just to try to get the best deal all the time - somewhere out there there is a good one, and certainly O2 seem to be giving money away on their PAYG rates at the moment. Most of the others still catch you one way or the other

the charges for accessing a network should be dropped, i mean if you have 5 million customers paying your network £10 a month tariff then thats a hell of a lot of money why should o2 charge vodafone to access the network and visa versa, these charges are about shareholders/company profits not service or value to the consumer

anyone know where we can access the info required to work this out per network, you should all start a mse crusade against ofcom, the shambles it is
If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
    If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:

I think my biggest gripe is the lack of competition - apart from some Orange contracts (not PAYG) they all prevent the use of 0800 dial around services and none offer any form of 1xxx indirect access. My Fresh phone used to allow this but it was withdrawn pretty quickly.

Even the the small number of virtual mobile operators (Virgin , Fresh) who use t-mobiles network don't stray too far from the host network's tariffs.

As I said before Ofcom need to pull their fingers out and encourage some proper competition in the UK mobile market. At the moment the only competition is a £10 differential on handsets.
