Freezing it for 24 hours will only kill off any weevils that are already in it. They'll still be in there (but dead) and it won't prevent it becoming infested if stored for a long time outside the freezer, though (apparently) most weevils come in the flour when you buy it.

i cant believe ive never heard of them before!
wont cooking the flour do the same job as freezing it before use, i.e. kill the weevils?

I often freeze those yoghurt tubes for kids and they are fine... You can freeze milk too so kind of makes sense I guess?

Not sure about flour - you can freeze pastry, crumble mix etc. though so maybe you can?

I always put my flour in the freezer to kill any weevils that might be lurking :D
It doesn't go solid just veeeeeery cold ;)

Yes - you can freeze flour - but make sure you seal it well in zip bags or tightly cling film it so it does't get damp. It's useful when it's nearing 'sell by' to keep it fresh - & Bitsy, you're right about the freezer zapping any would be weevils.
Not had success with freezing yogurts - I've found they loose their texture, tend to separate and go watery. Have to say I use plain yogurt well after its sell by date, I have found it keeps well in the fridge when it's not been opened. [but once the seal is broken it deteriorates fast]
Anyone else frozen fruit yogurts successfully?

If I thought for one moment that there were weevils in my flour shoiting all over it, It'd be in the bin, not the freezer.

From what I read after my incident with the b*ggers I think most flour has some weevils in it - can't be avoided.
I just try to look at as some extra fibre ;) :rotfl:
