Hi there,

I 've decided to go ahead with the bmw, but when i went to pick it up (at the agreed time), i had to wait 2.5 hours, because the guy who sold us the car, had left the company the day before, so the car did not go for its mot, so i had to wait, anyway, we eventually got the car, and because my husband had to go to work, we sort of rushed off without checking over the car. I arrived home, then stood back to check out the car, and i found the front bumper is sticking out slightly on the passenger side, and also the back bumper on the drivers side, is sticking out slightly, there are a few scratches to the car that i did'nt notice on the day(just small ones), is there a website where i can find out if the car has been in a crash or what else can i do?
I have already phoned the company, and they said they will have a look at it, but they have not got any appointments this week, so they will phone me back,(this was yesterday).

Sorry it's so long!

  • Hi

Check the car on HPI for 5p here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=830181

It is used car and few scratches are acceptable, but give them a chance to put the bumper right, provided the car was not involved in a big accident.

You can have the car inspected by independant people from the AA or the RAC. They might see something that suggest the car was involved in a accident causing the bumper to come out of true. If it was, I think you can reject the car on the ground it was not as described, but it is to early to say this.

Have HPI checked and get the AA to inspect the car.

I know this is going to sound harsh, but these obvious checks should be carried out before buying, not after.;)

True, but what can you advice the OP on her situation now?

EDIT:It is a main dealer, I don't think there is a big problem with the car as they must value their reputation when selling approved used cars and rely on repeat customers by making their experience with them a pleasant one.

Well not much of a Main Dealer, selling a car in that condition, I would just take it back immediately, before they blame the OP for the damage.

Insist on seeing the Sales Director.

If it is a BMW AUC (Approved Used Car) you should see this repaired and I understand you get a 12 month warranty too.
There is a BMW owners forum I'm a regular member of you might be interested in later which might help you out. Not sure if I'm allowed to post links to it or not regarding the rules on this forum.
