I have opened Barclays Tax Haven ISA on 13th March 08 but have heard nothing from them except letter saying thank for chooseing Barclays and will send welcome pack.
I went to local branch to put £3599 but they will not accept it as the account is not open.
I wonder how long this process will take?

Also just to add they wont have started applications until 7th April so don't expect it to be open for anothe week or 2.0

Its so daft.
There should be no reason why they can't process the application immediately upon receipt of it, and just schedule the account to 'activate' (become visible and start paying interest) on 6th April.
They could do an overnight batch that just does it for everyone.
I blame rubbish IT departments. You think they could learn from the previous year.0 -

Accounts can be added to whether account has been opened or not via cash in branch ( they have special ISA slips for the purpose) or by cheque in a branch ( which the branch would forward to its ISA office)
This policy was introduced by Barclays middle of May 2007.0 -
I opened my account in mid March and got a letter a few days later thanking me and thats it.
The cheque for £3,600 was dated 07.04.08 and having just checked my Lloyds online account it still has not been cashed.
I, like thousands of others, had this problem last year with Barclays and it got cashed in the end and the interest was back dated. When that happens you can smile about earning double interest but at the moment I am not happy:mad:It's far better to be penny wise than pound foolish.
