Just been on the phone to a guy from the tax credit people, looking into my claim as a single parent.
Although i dont live him ds's dad, i still stay over etc, and im on the council tax bill, registered to vote at his house, use his address for pay slips and bank accounts etc.
Well the guy on the phone was basically calling me a liar and will look into the claim further to decide if we are classed as a couple. If so i will have to pay back nearly £10,000 plus could get a charge of £3,000

How often do you stay over?
How long ago did you split?
Are you actually still a couple who choose to live apart?

Any decision will be based on the 'balance of probabilities'. They'll look at all aspects and you'd have to have an extremely good reason as to why you're still registered at his address for council tax, bank account, employment etc.I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0

You have a child together, you spend nights together, you're on the electoral role at the same address and you give this address to your employer and the bank - are you surprised they think you're a couple?0
-
Its not surprising they are looking into the claim, if you genuinely live elsewhere why would you not have your post sent to your own home?
Everything points to the fact that you are resident at the house where your "ex" lives.0 -
Seems you've been rumbled!0

Whichever way you look at it, YOU ARE A LIAR. You are lying to Tax Credits or to your employer, council tax, electoral roll, bank, OR more likely to US, as you are trolling.

dawn,
You should go to your local Citizens Advice who will be able to advise with this. They will give you non judgemental help.Torgwen..........

I stay over at his house maybe once or twice a week. I told the guy that i treat his house like my own but do not live there full time. Yes i have stuff sent to his house as it is personnal stuff which i dont want my parents to know about, i.e how much i earn, and debt from being self employed etc.
I dont class us as a couple now, just still very close for the sake of our son. In all honestly i have made a mistake with telling people thats my address, and now wish i didnt. When this tax credit guy come back i know i will proberly have to pay this money back, which i dont have a problem doing, as i know it would be my fault with how it looks, but i havent lied nor have i frauded the system.
I came on here for some advice and what steps tax credits can take against me, not to get slatted for this.0 -
Cant get my head around this 1. Who is committing the benfit fraud, you or your boyfriend?
Do you live at home with your parents, classed as single, have a child and claim CTC for being single?? But isn't the criteria household income so it would be your income + your parents income + brothers/sisters etc??
£10,000 is a hell of a lot of money to pay back, how have you managed to rack up £10000 worth of benefits just under CTC?
Up sh*t creek without a paddle i think.dawnm96700 wrote: »but i havent lied nor have i frauded the system.
There's £10,000 on it saying you have:T :rotfl:
How would you explain that if you have not lied, nor frauded the system?0 -
I am living at home with my parents, classed as single and getting ctc for being single. The havent taken my parents income into it only mine. Whats happened is that i put in a claim for help with nursery costs while i was working, which went through ok. At the same time i was using ex's address to get credit for credit cards and catalogues as i couldnt get any while at home, due to my parents debt. When i started working i gave ex's address, dont ask me why, because i dont know

The £10,000 was for nursery fee's and working tax part of the claim. I am on sick from work so not on benefits. If its comes back that we are classed as a couple, (which me personally dont class us as) then i have no problem paying it back. All i want to know is if they can take things further than just repaying the money back to them.0
