I agree with you Wig and was going to post the same. You cannot cancel a credit card transaction because you have changed your mind. Once the card issuer has authorised it they have to pay it in these circumstances.

Aaah dear, i guess this is just something to learn from. Next time i will definately just get mt prescription and go looking for glasses in MY OWN TIME, rather than be followed around by someone desperate to make a sale!
I cant believe how good the prices are on those websites!!!!

The reason I suggested that you might be able to cancel it on a credit card is "you did not change your mind - you were never allowed to make your own decision and were bullied into it."

I do think that you should phone the shop manager and expain how badly you were treated.

I had intended to go to specsavers as they are advertising 2 pairs of variofocals for £140 at the moment.

After reading of your experience - I am reconsidering.

I don't understand why the OP is taking this on the chin without apparently even having a go at getting a refund.

Ask for a refund on the glasses and according to how the water feels go for lens in your old glasses from them, or go to the online services.

Elona, 2 pairs of varifocals 140....you could get two pairs of glasses (one for each prescription) for 50 quid online, at least have a look and see what your money can buy you online.

I am so cross. Ok, so lots of you are going to say i was a push over - but i really wasnt in the right frame of mind.

Just had a sight test, its got so bad so quickly (5 months) that he is worried i might be diabetic - completely freaked me out!! I suffer from panic attacks, and i really did panic!!!!!

I went downstairs and was told to talk to this guy about new lenses. I just wanted the lenses put in my normal frames but the guy told me they dont suit me at all so i should get new ones! he started bombarding me with frames and telling me about all these different lenses and lense coating.
I asked him to leave me to choose some by myself, but he didnt budge! Just hovered around me.

I was like a zombie, worrying about what the optician had said and worrying that i have no money and need to get new lenses.

He was just so pushy, just a bully really!!

I ended up paying nearly £300   I am so far into my over draft, i really didnt need this!!

Not happy with how he was, feel like i was forced into paying for something i didnt want.

Also - i paid, and he said it had 'void' ?? It did say that on a receipt he gave me, so i had to pay again??
I only wanted a pair of reading glasses, ended up with 2 pairs of varifocals ... cost a little over £202 .... got baffled with facts and figures and talk about a bargain. 1a_y_sad.gif

Don't even use them cause everything looks funny when I do, my monitor is all squiffy and I have to hold my head right up so I can read from the bottom of the lens, literally a right pain in the neck.

Ok, on friday after work i went up the specsavers. Took my sister with me (shes like the Queen of getting her own way when it comes to shops and purchases!!).

The guy who had bullied me was a locum and i found out from one of the girls there that he is actually quite well known for being very pushy - in fact, my sister had been bullied into buying a pair of desinger glasses by him in a specsavers in hemel hempstead!!!! She knew exactly who i was talking about when she saw him.

He has added on 'anti-glare' to both pairs of glasses, which i never agreed to!! So that took about £50 of the total, made quite a difference!!

I am going to make a complaint to specsavers and ask to find out who the locum guy is signed with and i will make a complaint to them too.

Your right wig - i shouldnt take it on the chin!!!!!!

Aww elvis - my mum has the same problem! She looks hilarious when shes trying to read, her head is all tilted!

That's the spirit! At least you got 50 quid back. Now the letter to head office might net you some more refunds.

you should take them back(stop wearing them) as i am sure they are like any product. you should be able to get a complete refund on frames (ring up head office & make a scene , i used to work in a high street shop & we were told that if anyone was really making a scene & going nuts to give a refund to get rid of them a refund as a gesture of goodwill). So take your sister in again as they were well out of order.I bought some lenses i bought from a car boot for £1 and got free lenses(as i have just had baby(free perscriptions!)) so why not give that a go or look on ebay where i sold the others i got(they were ex display designer ones & went for £5 so you should go get a bargain ..If you & your sister dont want to go in there again get the head office phone number & really let them have it(in a nice way but be firm as you'll never ever meet them so go for it).Hope it goes well.

It took me six weeks to learn to use my varifocals and in all that time I was convinced I never would. Now I don't even notice and, as I was repeatedly told it would, my brain has sorted it out and I manage without having to move my head around.
