Dell - a question about delivery

I'm looking a bit more into get a Dell laptop now, but before i make my final decision I wondered if people who have ordered one could tell me how long they take to deliver? It says on the website depends on your spec and how you pay. I'm only having the basic and paying by CC card (interest free!).
They also say they only deliver Monday to Friday 9-5 but i work fulltime and to send it to an alternative address ie my work I'd have to phone my CC company and ask them to have my work address as an alternative address to get it authorised!
Sounds quite complicated and almost makes me just by the HP one from Tescos!!!
Many thanks

As they build the PC when they get the order it depends on how busy they are, ive ordered on a Monday which was built within a few hours and had the pc on the Thursday, other times it was the following week, they are built in Ireland.
You can check the progress of your order from building to tracking delivery, quite good really0 -
in my experience, they are very good, and the tracking on-line is excellent with the carrier, all my orders have always arrived ahead of schedule. However the cost of delivery is very expensive so see if you can get a deal!0

I've got a deal at the moment which is free delivery. Just concerned really what they will do as they will try and deliver when I'm not home. Which courier do they use and will be be able to pick it up from a depot like the next day or something?0
-
Similar to Royal Mail putting a card through your door!!0
-
The courier that brings it into England is Walsh Western, then it is passed on to another courier it depends where its going, mine was delivered by TNT and Parceline recently0
-
And both of those will leave a card I would assume?! LOL0

Go and buy one from Tesco. You will save on delivery and it's easier to return (Dell returns are terrible).£8k to pay off before Jan 2011! Was 28k to pay off by Jan 2010 though so I'm happy

I think they use a variety of carriers once in England, the tracking with the "shipper" Walsh Western is superb though. All will leave a card if you are out, or ring Dell and get it delivered to a place of work etc as an option too!0
