Can I cancel my contract?

I took out a new contract last week with Vodafone, but basically having now used the N95 8GB I am not too happy with it and find it too bulky. I have not used the new sim yet and have been using an old one but as I have actually "used the phone" is it still possible for me to return and the contract cancelled?

Many thanks

Best answer is for you to check with the shop on their policy.

You don't have a legal right to cancel, but there may be extra "cooling off" time offered by the retailer

I think Vodafone offer a 7 day cooling off period. You may be able to go for the sympathy vote and say you don't want it anymore, couldn't make it into town etc etc. Only recently started using it properly.

They may be nice, they may not be.

For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!
  • I bought it online and have read that they have a 14 day cooling off period I just didn't know it went having actually used the product.

http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/index.cfm?go=help.returns&WT.svl=link1&wt_oss=return doesn't say they won't refund you if you've used it.

Have you rung them to ask? Would seem the quickest way of finding out.

Don't think you can cancel the contract as I',m sure that the 14 day returns policy only applies on unused phones. Why don't you keep the sim card and flog the phone of on eBay and buy a phone you like. Ive done my self quite a few times but I usually buy 12 months free phones, keep sim, sell phone on ebay and get a decent phone for my self

  • Im sure they offer a cooling off period, get in there before 7 days are up. Ive had nothing but bad service from Vodafone, bad reception and feel ripped off by them to be honest, so would advice, from a personal point of view, to get out of it. I know people on 02 that get double the amount of minutes per month than i do, for less money.

    Hello asolitaryfigure

To answer your question, any phone that's bought directly from Vodafone is covered by a 14 day return policy. This is regardless of if you have used the phone or not. This also covers the contract as well. So if you return the handset within 14 days and state at the same time you don't want the contract, we will cancel it as soon as we receive the phone.

This policy may not apply if you got the contract and handset from somewhere other than Vodafone. Each company operates their own cooling off period.

I hope this has answered your query!

How sensible are you! I got caught by T3 Direct and they are the company from hell! Check thread on Consumer vent board to see just how not to get a new phone!! Can't believe I was so stupid :o
