Out of common courtesy, the sales assistant should have said to the other people that they were just showing the appliance to someone else

What would you have expected to had happend then?

The other two saying "oh well in that case if the person who is looking at it but hasn't said they want it is stood over there saying nothing about being interested in buying it then we'd better leave".

By the way. You said "but they could have it if the first person didn't want it". As I pointed out the op didn't but in and say they wanted it. You then turned round and said that would be being confrontational.

Can't you see the sales assistant is in a loose loose situation. The op has gone silent, the other 2 want it (probably would complain if they sales assistant didn't sell it to them as they had made it clear they wanted it, see my previous post). What ever choice the sales assistant made someone would have been upset.

Unfortunatley and ultimatley, Cash is always King, the Salesman had a definate buyer, as he is paid on commission of his sale, he is inevatibly going to give it to the first customer that pulls out his or her wallett.

Enabling him to find his next potential deal, rather than rely on a less substantial wage, simply because he spent too long in a month, hanging around potential buyers.
