ema& carers allowance

Hi,
EMA will not effect the Carer's Allowance. As long as the course (including any unsupervised study she is expected to do) is under 21 hours.
Hope that is of help to you.0 -
I don't know the ins and outs of CA but form a purely common sense point of view, if she is allowed to claim CA while studying, then it would be wrong of them to dock her EMA because of this.
If they were going to do that, then they should be counting the wages of other EMA students as income and docking their EMA imo. She gets it because she is unable to work and earn extra money like other students can and so the same rules should apply.0 -
im not sure what to do still, colege has confirmed its def only 12 hours, c.a. dont seem to know about wftcr, and ema knows nothing about c.a. lol wana get three phones and stick them together with masking tape and in half an hour i'll know, the problem is each time i call i speak to somone else and the whole story starts again, perhaps i should record it lol
Even if the college confirm she's only in lessons for 12 hours the DWP will ask the college how many hours she's expected to dedicate to the course. If its over 21 then she wont get it.
I do 10 hours in lectures and seminars but the uni state they expect me to do things out of university which takes the time over 21 hours. Even though when i'm not at uni I look after OH. I still dont get C.A.
Seems a bit ridiculous :rolleyes:0
