Rayburn off for the summer?

Hi, I'm new here.

When we moved into our house in 2001 there was a very suspicious old boiler which we replaced with a gas-fuelled Rayburn. In those day, fuel wasn't the issue it was now and we'd never heard of MSE....

I'm now thinking for the last time in years that turning the Rayburn off for the summer will save us a few much-needed pounds....I'm the "turn the heating off at all times" kind of guy and wondered when I should broach the subject to rest of the family and if anyone has a recommended/annual "Rayburn goes off" day.

Would it make much difference rather than just tunring the heating off all summer and leaving the Rayburn on for the cooking & hot water?

thanks for any help
