first of all i would try the omneo, you definately should see an improvement in the first couple of days, also i would hold off buying the browns bottles at the moment, omneo comfort might just do the trick. also alot of babies become more active between 4pm and midnight ish if you do need the bottles then you ought to consider using them around these feeds only if she is unwell. let me know if she doesn't settle after you have tried this ( i am sure that she will)and i'll try and help you sort this out, and discount any other possible causes.
( i do know what i am talking about i have worked with newborns 4 many years mainly problem solving / routine establishment / post natal care and behaviour management amongst other things)Give blood - its free0 -
fsdss, she is certainly awake more from 6pm to midnight. She has just finished her first Omneo and she seemed to really enjoy it. She drank it nice and steadily but all 4oz in one go.
I have 4 Dr Browns coming from Ebay (£10).
Thanks for the offer to sort out our problems. we'll keep you posted.
I rang a local stockist of the Robomax today, they have a couple of demo units and say they are quite impressed with them. They are £80 collected rather than £90 delivered. Although she did say they were a bit noisey. Even though I am keen to save money (I am a Financial Controller) you can't put a price on a good nights sleep. We may visit the stockist at the weekend.
I would be interested to know if anyone has experience with the product (or similar).

Well, what memories! My eldest would only go off to sleep if suckling, preferably my breast although at a pinch a finger would do. Extracting said finger, even an hour later, used to be tricky. Then No. 2 arrived, and NEVER fell asleep while suckling, which I found confusing. No. 3 sometimes did, and sometimes didn't, fall asleep while suckling!
But agree that I did let eldest get into bad habits, we only really broke that one by leaving him with a sitter. Who let him howl! And he seems unscarred by it now.
If Radio 2 is not found satisfactory, 'white noise' from a detuned radio can also help.
For No. 2 we had one of those ghastly wind up lullaby things which could be attached to the cot and played for 5 minutes when fully wound. That was invaluable as well: I would wind it up, hit my bed, and not get out until it stopped playing. I would almost get out, thinking it had stopped and he hadn't stopped crying, and then it would play on and 9 times out of 10 he had stopped crying before the dreadful noise from the lullaby stopped.
BTW, DH still rocks if left standing anywhere for any length of time ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
oh, the memories this brings back! Well, the good thing is although you can never believe it, is that they do learn to sleep at some point! We had two summer babies, who when the sun got up so did they, so many a morning my DH would be pushing a pram round the streets at 4 am!!!
My bits of advice that worked for us
1 a babies lullaby cassette / cd ours supposedly had "womb" sounds built in!!, but it worked , it calmed and lulled them off, even when they were older
2 my second wouldn;t go down on his own without a fuss and my midwife suggested I wrap his blanket round him so he felt secure, and this worked for us
3 i was told never to let them fall asleep feeding, which i know is difficult, but it stops them dropping off before they've had a full bottle, which in turn causes them to wake earlier cos they're hungrier than they should be, so they're tired, so they fall asleep on their next bottle and so it continues.....
I know everybody is probably throwing advice at you, but just pick and choose and try. It does get better, and it doesn't last, and then you wished they were that small again......!0
