12 months is up... what now?
My 12 month contract on a high street o2 50 tariff is up.
Checked the O2 website and saw details of the Nokia 6230i with a free bluetooth headset.
Phoned up O2, they seemed to deny knowledge of the headset deal (see below), and said that upgrading would cost me £70!
When I grumbled a bit at this, they then said that they could do a 20% discount on future calls (no mention of 50% extra for existing customers renewing, as in the media).
Watch out.... the small print on the website states that the offer was for new customers.
So now what? Don't particularly want to change networks (1) because most of my contacts are on the same network (2) the network coverage of other services is poor in the locations I need to use the phone.

There is a thread running that is approx 14 pages long giving details on the best packages available for customers looking to upgrade0

To save you reading 14 pages, here are some quick tips:
Don't phone their sales people. Phone up O2 customer services and say you want to migrate to another company. Ask for a PAC number which they must give you. They will then forward you to the retentions department who will offer you the best deals given your account history. Now quote some deals you have seen on the web that you are interested in and they will try their hardest to match it. Don't accept their first offer but keep "erming and ahing"...their time is more important to them than yours so they will break earlier than you.
If you read the other thread you will see that big spenders are getting some great deals. But if you are not a big spender then don't set your sights too high.
Good luck.0
