This uses DVD-R and RAM, just the same as the Panasonic, and is made in Germany I think.
Not much details about it on Comet website, but I have seen one in store.
I was looking for a DVD+RW recorder so was not interested in it.
What would you rather tell your friends?:
"I just got a new Panasonic DVD recorder"
"I just got a new Funai DVD recorder"
I rest my case

I wonder if RicherSounds will price match Empire or TotalDigital. That way you won't have to pay pnp.
talkshop - why are you so keen on a DVD+RW over a DVD-RW ?
btw the Panasonic ES20 seems to do all the formats although its pricey at £250. It does have built in freeview though !!! http://ws4.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=PANA-DMRES200 -

Thanks

I can pause live TV with my Humax PVR8000T Freeview HDD recorder.
No DVD recorder is required
@whoever
I wanted DVD+RW as I already have lots of blank discs due to the 3x failure of my old Philips DVDR880.
Yes, I did by a Philips DVDR610 despite all the bad reports. It is ex-demo from Comet, and I got 12 months warranty for £90
Very happy with it, and I do not really care if it goes wrong, because it was cheap.

I bought a Panasonic DMR-E30 about a year ago..............from pressing the power on button to the time the thing decides to open the dvd drawer is thirteen seconds. Everything about is painfully slow...........if it was a pc, you'd swear it had a virus!
I'm normally a fan of Panasonic but you wouldn't get me near one of their dvd recorders again.
As someone else has quoted, one of the main improvements on the new Panasonics is startup in a matter of less than 3 seconds. Apart from startup times on the old DMR-E* models they are pretty much bullet proof. I'd prefer a slow start up and years of great recording than a super quick start up and crap recordings or it breaking within a couple of years0 -
...what doe s TIMESLIP mean?0
