3G internet sticks

Hello Tekkies!

This is my first post on this board, but not on the forum. I was considering getting one of those 3G sticks as advertised by vodafone and others so I could surf the net while I am stuck in my hotel room (I am away for my work). However, I am completely clueless as to which one to take... And what is the best price... And what are the conditions, etc etc...

Thank you so much in advance.

You might want to check when (or if) you travel abroad too, as no doubt the fee rockets from out of UK connections (I may be wrong, but someone with one will know more!)

From a business point of view we have always used vodaphone as they have very good coverage.

Does anyone know if the half price 3 broadband offer for existing customers can be used in conjunction for quidco?

    Cheers,

I bought an unlocked PAYG one from eBay for £75. So far I've been using Vodafone's £1 a day 'walk and talk' deal, but it gives me the flexibility of (a) only paying for it when I use it, (b) using a SIM card for the network with the best current deal and (c) using a cheap local SIM card when I'm abraod.

Oh what a good idea Fifer! Thx for all the replies, I just need to weigh my options now! I actually might not need it for a while as I might get to work from home soon. But will deffo be more clued up for when my company sends me to live in a hotel again.

Fifer, have you actually tried getting full web access off a mobile network while abroad and if so on what kind of tariff? The costly access abroad is what has put me off buying a 3g stick so far.

Not yet, but I came across this site which seems to track some good deals for various countries.

Well, no help about 3g in there for Western Europe, but a nice tip on how to get 30 min free calls to Germany - with 18185 charging 3p/min at the moment, this is news!
