    hello everyone
sorry for not being around -on major job hunt.
need to get a job so we can get through christmas.
    speak to you soon

    Laini xx:j
still fighting for my money !!!
  • My Mum is paying PPI on a massive credit card debt. However, I think that when she took it out, she may have been self-employed or in temporary employment. Does this mean that she could claim something back? I cheekily looked at her statements to get an idea of the figure, but now I really want to find a way to tactfully tell her to cancel it. She is still temping now.

Some PPI policies do in fact cover self employment and this would be in your terms and conditions. They are often dependant on paying Class 2 NI contributions. Temporary employment is likely not to be covered though. Was this temporary at the time she was actually sold the policy??

Are you claiming misselling here?? You write that you want her to cancel this so I am confused. If it is misselling then perhaps look through the reasons on the PPI guide that Martin did and then send a letter outlining them. There is a template on the site. Was this put onto the card without knowledge of it??

If you do send them a letter for misselling take a copy for your records and also you have to give them 8 weeks for a full and final response on it. I would send it recorded delivery too as then you have proof of sending, most are known to stall.

nothing yet cos the 2nd adjudicator has passed the file over on that date to the ombudsman so it might just be in his workload to do, not sure how long it will take for him to look at it.
    fingers crossed -hopefully soon.
will update you when I hear anything.

    thanks for the support.

ps I know this doesnt have anything to do with ppi but got charges back from Morgan Stanley approx 582.00- it will pay for christmas.

    Plus
still waiting for Barclaycard to reply about charges and PPI they said they will reply by 6th Oct.

    Hi hun
This place is not far from me in Newport.

Carcraft to my knowledge had done this to a load of customers to what I can recall.
Someone may confirm here if these were covered by GISC at the time in case you decide to want to take this to the financial ombudsman if not successful in reclaiming this back.

However, I would write to them anyway and complain about what you have said above as fully as you can, and say this should have been optional etc.

Its worth trying to pursue this hun, go for it I say.;)

Thanks Di for that response I will certainly go for it! Having discovered that paperwork for GE Capital I started thinking about all other credit etc. we have. The list now looks like this:
Lloyds TSB credit card - PPI added without my knowledge & for some years now.
Mortgage with ABBEY for 1999 - 2006 PPI added as we were told we had to have it.
Secured Loan from First National obtained through Loans.co.uk & a sbsequent remortgage with Northern Rock (125%) through Loans.co.uk. There may or may not be something wrong with these. The secured loan was granted on a the basis of an estate agents letter of valuation dated a year prior & a year later we 'pushed' into the Northern Rock remortgage because the surveyor's valuation was £25k lower than the estate agents valuation! They also did not make us aware of their charges or the redemption charges for the secured loan, I also do not recall seeing a KFI.

I will post any progress made!!

    No problem and with pleasure.
Lloyds TSB also done the same with myself and hubby too, but then we always used to think it were part of the agreement and to be accepted for credit, because we were never informed otherwise.

We have 3 in with the FOS right now about Lloyds PPI-Credit Cards and have some of the loan complaints to deal with too, this is what I am currently working on now letters etc etc.;)

Anything you feel you were mis sold on its worth trying to fight them all, the chances are that if you have been mis sold one of those there will be more, so go for it.;)

All the best, we look forward to hearing the outcome of this, and if you receive fob off letters do not worry as this is what most of us mainly have, with a bit of luck it will work first time round for you, but do not depair, there are further steps to take.:D

Just found my settlement figures for a loan with co-op of 1999.
    Total Loan £9000
    PPI £2068.75
PPI element 18.6% (Get this by taking the PPI and dividing it by loan and PPI added together.)
made 5 repayments of 237.05 and then settled, (was originally over 5 years)
    so 5 x 44.09 (which is 18.6% of the repayment) = £220.45 PPI

    14242.80 (this is the total loan which is £237.05 x 60) x 18.6% which equals £2649.16 (PPI)
so 2649.16 (PPI) - 220.45 (the 5 repayments of the PPI of £44.09) -rebate of insurance of 1617.69 (This figure is on your settlement) = 811.02
811.02 + 220.45 (payments made) = 1031.47 which was the total cost of my PPI for 5 months.

I want this back and the statutory interest too. I am going to email my adjudicator on this as I don't think i asked for the stat int.

Tiggrae can you confirm my figures here???
    yes they're correct - I got £1040.98 at 18.69%
