Hi there hun
It seems that you mum does have grounds for complaint, so yep go for it and get a letter in.
Here is a link here to give further ideas, but if you can try to a letter in your own words as much as you can with full explanation of the reasons, as there is also a template on this link too to help guide you.;)

Good luck and please keep us posted, they have 8 weeks from the letter, don't worry if you receive a fob off first letter, unfortunately this is the case for many, but another letter then will be sent to receive a final decision in order to complain to the financial ombudsman service, but we will work on those stages if they come to them.
Fingers crossed.
Di.

No medical history was taken or requested. The only thing that was really talked about with the PPI is that it would be "beneficial" to have it just in case of unemployment or ill health. As far as I can remember, I cannot recall my mum being told it was optional and it is a single premuim policy.
I know I have answered all the questions that were put on the PPI FAQ page, but I was not sure if this applied to Hire purchase too.
Thank you once gain for your help
Much appreciated
Good luck0 -
It seems like Nemo are very generous then, just as long as you stay with them lol.......:D but there is still a little more to come back .;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0

Get your claim in now for the misselling. You know the figures but if you want to check with Tiggrae then I am sure she will work them out. You were treated fair at least with them but like you say, only if you stayed with them.0 -
Calling it a night now Di. Back tomorrow I dare say . x0

EARLY REPAYMENT
If you wish to discharge your obligations under this agreement you may do so at anytime by paying US a sum, the Early Redemption Figure, calculated in accordance with clause 4.2 below plus a Security Fee or Discharge fee as published in our customer fee structure.
If you settle before the end of the 36th month after the making of the loan, the early Redemption Figure will be the sum of the balance of the Total loan (including all charges and interest due, if any), plus interest up to the date of settlement, plus an amount equal to 6 months interest (at the rate in force at the date of settlement) charged on the total loan.
If you settle in month 37 the Early Redemption Figure will be the sum of the balance of the total loan plus an equal amount of 5 months interest (at the rate in force at the date of your settlement) charged on the total loan.
Thereafter for each additional complete year the loan is in place prior to settlement, the amount of interest added to the balance plus interest up to the date of settlement will reduce by one month from five months until the loan has been in place for 8 years after which the early Redemption Figure will be the balance (including all charges and arrears due, if any) plus interest up to the date of settlement. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

marshallka wrote: »If this sale was made after 14th January, 2005 then sale of insurance had to be regulated by the FSA. They would have had rules to follow and they clearly did not with your mum. I would now look at the template letter and try and make your own letter up from it stating all the reasons you can think of for this misselling. Tell them it was not appropiate and also is of no use and never was. You then send it recorded delivery and give them 8 weeks for a full and final respone.
Good luck
Thanks marshallka
It was the 24th January 2005 so it is good news to hear that it was regulated by the FSA.
Hoping this works out well for my mum, the money will come in useful for her.
Thanks very much for your help, the help, support and advice on this forum is priceless.
