The thing is Di, i only complained about one to the ombudsman and then they rang me about the others and asked why i thought they would be outside their jurisdiction and also if any were to consolidate and also when i actually became aware of the misselling of these. I only mentioned these on the writing bit of the form and like i say i stated "i realise that these are nothing that you can look into but i have complained about all four to the co-op". Its soooo confusing. They asked me and not me them. I have now emailed to say they were to consolidate and also are they looking into the four as one or do i have make seperate complaints.

It would be good to know this, and I also must check if any more of mine were also consolidation, there is one which I do know about and I would have assumed it would be the same complaint in one then.

Popping to Somerfields for a bit of shopping back soon hunni, will go over all this again then.

This is what i emailed the adjudicator now

Hi, i am anxious to know if you are in fact looking into all four of the loans (1997, 1999, 2001 and 2002) that we had with the co-op bank or do i have to forward to you 3 more complaint forms. You rang and asked me about these other loans and when i became aware of the misselling and also why i thought they were outside jurisdiction. When you telephoned the other day you asked if any of these were to consolidate and i answered that i did not think so but upon looking now it looks like some were. If you could let me know as soon as possible on this matter as this is very important. thanks,
  • Looking for some advice. My husband and I have a joint loan with Picture for £56,500 with PPI of £14,096, taken out in Nov 2005. I wrote to them earlier this year as I feel we were missold the PPI, as we weren't advised that I was covered for life, sickness and redundancy and my husband was only covered for life. We were also not aware that the insurance was part of the loan and would be included in any settlement figure. They wrote back denying that the policy was missold and I didn't take it any further at that stage.

As we have being with them 3 years, we were due for a rebate of £3000 next month, I phoned them up only to find that we have forfeited our rights to this rebate, because we went into arrears last year. Whilst in arrears we contacted Picture throughout to explain the situation (I had being made redundant twice in 10 months and in both incidents had to take a lower wage in my new jobs). I did not claim on the PPI. They did not once mention that this would mean we would no longer be entitled to the rebate, which incidently is a total of £6000 - £2000 next year and £1000 the year after.

Of course, I am appalled by their treatment of us and really could do with some advice on where we can go next with this. Apparently Picture have recently being bought by another bank for £1.00 as they were about to go bust! Not sure if this is having an effect on rebates etc and would love to hear off anyone else who has had dealings with this company. I feel that we made a huge mistake taking out the PPI, but have had loans before with high street banks and have always received the insurance back when making a settlement.

I want to fight this all the way and hopefully stop other people getting in this type of mess for the future.

    Can anyone help?
  • Hi Everyone,

Im new to this forum, and dont understand a great deal of all this ppi insurance, but I would appreciate it very much if someone could give me some advice?
We have a ppi on a £15.000 loan that we had in April 2005, and although I told the bank that we did not want the ppi at the time, we felt that we were being told that the ppi came with the loan, and if we didnt have it, we would not get the loan, so we felt we had no alternative but to take out the ppi.
We recently sent in a template letter, stating that we believe we were mis-sold this policy, due to the fact we felt pressured into having it, but the reply from our bank, (Lloydstsb) says that is not the case, as we had 30 days to cancel after we took out the loan.

Another thing that I would like to ask, after reading different stories on these forums, is whether a ppi is worthless if you are self employed? my husband was self employed at that time, and although this was discussed at the time of taking out the loan, and it is written on the documents, and the policy covers unemployment, would this be a valid claim if my husband ever needed to make a claim?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

When did you recieve the letter back from them?? How long ago was this as they usually give you a time to complain again. If you have not then i suggest that you get on with another letter stating that you still believe you were missold the policy and want to esculate the claim. You need to get a final response from them and then i believe that after they have been declared in default??? you can then take your complaint to the FSCS for a compensation claim. There are a couple of people with Picture claims on here that maybe could advise you further.

I don't know how this works though as you had arrears at some point so perhaps Tiggrae or anyone else could confirm??

Being self employed and whether its worthless is dependant on some types of policies being that some do pay if you are paying class 2 ni contibutions and sometimes if you have been in self employment for a continuous six months prior to claiming. Your own terms and conditions would tell you this.

If you believe you were missold then you need to now write another letter and get a final response from them. You have to give the company 8 weeks from when you first complained and they have to give you a final response in that time so send all correspondence by recorded delivery. If after 8 weeks you have not received a final response then you can make your complaint to the FOS without it.

I will go mad if he never told me the other week when he rang and he was not looking into them. He rang and asked me about them, i put on the form that i had four loans but 3 would be outside their jurisdiction i thought. They were all sold the same and all within months of each other. I think its a waste of time and money when they are all the same firm like this. In fact each one has an account number of our bank account and sort code too.

Me too would go crazy  !!!
I think its a total waste of time meanings they are all of the same account with the same complaints, no wonder these complaints take forever to get through, afterall same bank/account number, in my opinion should all be treated as one single complaint.

In regards to mis sold PPI go straight to the FSCS you don't have to wait for them to be declared in default. Visit www.fscs.org.uk/
Have they got it in writing that you lose your money back if in arrears?

May be worth sending a SAR to see where you stand.
