sparky0107 wrote: »Hi,
I first approached Paragon about PPI, they fobbed me off saying that the broker (Freedom Finance)set everything up. So I wrote to freedom finance, they said that I had received all the paperwork including details of the PPI, which they deemed I had read & understood, before passing me to Paragon, so as far as they are concerned, that is the end of the matter, any advice on my next steps?
Thanks again in advance for any response.
Throw back to the them that over reliance on postal documentation to explain the process of PPI is against the terms of the consumer credit act. Have you got copies of all documentation and a audio copy of the telephone conversation when you took out the loan. The audio copy can be used as evidence to support if PPI was never explained or offered. Also ask for a copy of the customer credit agreement which you signed which stated you accepted PPI and look for the digital tick. Once you have all that information you can progress your claim.0 -

As to the question can you join the claim gang of course you can. I don't understand what you are asking though. If you are saying you have already used the PPI then i'm sorry you can't reclaim. If you are saying that you settled the loan balance then that has no bearing on the fact if you were mis sold PPI. I don't understand why they required your pay statements or P60 unless you claimed. I'm sorry.0 -

What i was meaning was when we came to settle the loan during a conversation with firstplus about the settlement figure being too high the lady that i spoke to mentioned what she had my husband down as earning. When we took out the loan we would of given payslips and p60's to whoever to get the loan but when she metioned his salary it was way above his real salary. Could firstplus or the broker have done this. We just applied and forwarded them with all the bits and bobs they needed. We COULDN'T lie about earning (we provided bank statements, p60's and wageslips) but its looks like either one of them did. It was just something that came back to me when all this came about. Also why would they have done that. Pure mistake or something else.0 -

Hi just wanted to let you know that not only did the Halifax return all PPI plus interest on Credit card (after first letter as they could not find details as to wether we wanted it or not) :j :j
but today received letter to say they were going to refund cc charges plus interest as well after 2nd letter :j :j
These are my first results but i have reclaimed 3817.22:D:j
So keep going everyone - it takes ages just send the letters
try to be organised, something i am struggling with, as i sent lots of claims off all in one go and keep getting a bit mixed up:rolleyes:
stagger the claims, it is easier to deal with then
I still have lots more to recover so back to it
Good luck everyone:beer:“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -

Dont let them try any scare tactics
Carry on with your complaint dont discuss anything with them now over the phone, they prob mentioned it to scare you off.“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -

marshallka wrote: »No.... this was back in 2003 that they mentioned this. It certainly does not scare me off. As i say, either the broker or firstplus put the wages down wrong. I never pursued it. I just wondered why they would do it. I am still pursuing the claim with either. One will pay, they prey on vulnerable people and it is time we fought back. Actually at the moment its making me ill all this researching but lets hope its worth it.
Sorry got wrong end of stick hun:rolleyes:

have been trying to reclaim ppi from first plus does anyone know if anyone has been successful at claiming for mis-sold ppi but had to take their case to the ombudsman??
i refused their first and only offer of 78% of payments made as i believe that the policy has been mis-sold and i should be entitiled to all my payments pack and the single policy amount (over 14,000) took off the loan. they rung me today and after 4 letters to them and the first two phone calls to them sent via cd to me, i hope i am right in taking the case to the ombudsman.
They have admitted that the phone calls made where i have apparently said yes to the ppi cannot be found? Is this a good or bad thing. They state that as i signed the doccuments that they cannot offer me any more money. The bloke on the phone was actually very nice but still wouldnt offer me all my money back!
some further advice would be helpful.
