hi wondering if any one can help

i got a computer from comet in 2001
    financed by household bank

in 2002 my partner got computer from comet
financed by household bank he took ppi

a couple of months later household bank called us in
they said it would be better to put both account together into one, which at the time sounded ok .

now when they did this i had payed mine for a year so they calculated what was left and added to new account (they payed off one account using the other), with my partners i think he had only made about two payment they took what he had to pay and the whole amount for the ppi and added it to new account.
what i want to know is should they have taken the whole amount for the ppi ??
the ppi should have been over the whole term of the original loan (which only lasted a few months)as household payed off first with the new account?

i have gotten myself confused with it all , and not sure if they were right or not:confused:

    thanks

1stly- they added what was left of yours to a whole new account - so you'll have paid interest on the new length of the loan instead of what was left on yours - did you have PPI on yours? - if not by agreeing to the new lumping together they have applied PPI to yours in a very sneaky and underhand way

then they added your husbands whole amount to the new account and the same thing happened again

so they charged you both PPI for the whole of the new loan even though he had already made payments

you will have to write to them and ask for a SAR and a break down of all the details in FULL

they never do things like this to benefit the customer - only to rip you off
LTSB PPI - £770 ish for dad
LTSB PPI for dad - £1800 for dad
    Barclays PPI claim for self-£2204
Dads home insurance - reduced by £200 a year "WE DO NOT LIVE IN FLOOD AREA AND I DON'T SEE WHY WE SHOULD PAY FOR THOSE THAT DO - I WANT TO SPEAK TO YOUR SUPERVISOR"!

My husband has received a push off letter from HFC, they state that he has now settled the loan so basically sod off. They have said that he has exhausted their complaints procedure so he had better go to the FO. It was a single premium policy. He only settled it a couple of weeks ago and the reason he was complaining is that he has his earnings protected through his bank so never needed the PPI in the first place, he was never informed that it was optional and they never asked if he had any cover should we go to the FO or just give it up as a bad job.
Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.

It needs to be a final response from them before you can take it to the FOS - have you sent them a second letter - if not do that noe - asking that they look into it again as they have not provided you with a satisfactory answer. Don't give up - plenty of people on here to help you along the way!

my case has finally been passed to an adjudicant..after being with fos since October 2007. (i do realise they are horrendously busy!!!). After being asked by the adjudicant what my job was and what my understanding of ppi was...i have not heard anything (responded mid may). Can anyone give me any idea of the timescales involved once your case has been allocated???

    thanks in advance xxx

Hi, mine was allocted to an adjudicator as well yesterday but apparently mine is a finance problem and not just ppi so its different departments. I think people are saying 6 to 9 months but that may be from when you first complained. It is frustrating waiting and even more frustrating if you wait and they say "nothing we can do".

Twinsmum, wasn't it you that won against firstplus??. Laini has won her claim too but is waiting for the money from them. How long before they paid up with you. I think she is having problems actually getting the money. Your input might be reassuring.

    Hi Cornflake girl.
Please read an earlier post of mine - where I said that " A company is negligent in line with Misrepresentation Act 1967 s2(1) as breached Cosumer Credit Act 1974. " A clause in the contract which states that a signature indicates full acceptance is not valid where it would be unlikely that the customer would have the skill and inclination to go through the fine detail" See the case of Howard Maine v A Ogden 1975.
I appreciate that I do not know the background to your case, but this may help.

Hi marluc can you explain this misrepresentation act to me? i dont understand all the jargon but it might help me with hfc bank, sorry to sound thick but its all double dutch to me, i signed for ppi but my argument is i was pushed into it and made to feel i wouldnt get the loan without it,they are applying to get my judgement put aside

    Evening everyone,
I won my reclaim against Halifax BoS for PPI and received the full £378.22 plus £34.88 statutory interest. Today I have been hounded by them for not paying £399 to finish my loan, (which ended in March 2008). They have also placed 2 late payment notices on my Experian report, I must say I'm not a happy camper. Now I've got to ring them back in the morning after being given the runaround tonight and passed from one department to another. During one conversation I asked the man on the other end of the phone if this was retribution for daring to claim back the PPI, he nearly choked, trying to reply to that one.
Will keep you updated on this one

Hi Sparky i wonder if Halifax are trying thesee tactics on people when they try to make a claim. I wrote to them with first letter 3 weeks ago but have heard nothing. My loan payment was due out of my back account on or around the 4th of each month and dispite the money being in my account they did not take it out. So yesterday I called them and they said I cancelled the direct debit which I have never done and also informed me that they have put it in as late patment to credit agency. so I piad there and then with card and have asked them for proff that I cancelled direct debit as according to my internet backing info it is still active I have ask they remove the late payment from credit reference and I have printed out the proof that the direct debit is still active on my internet banking with the date. It maybe just an error as they said it was, but I think it is a big coinsedance. What does anyone else think
I have 2 PPI claims all being dealt with by FOS could do with a win. I also have 1 PPI claim with FSCS because company gone bankrupt.
I have claim for bank charges on-hold for 3year

    Good-luck all
