Waitrose Broadband

Waitrose.com are currently offering a deal where, if you have your own modem, they will give you 3 months free BB access if you transfer to them. Their current monthly package is £18.99 a month for a limit of 5GB and then £2 per GB over your limit if you exceed it. If you don't have a modem, or need to replace the one you have, they give you 2 months free. It works out to be a saving of £57 for the 3 months or £38 for the 2 months.
The download rate is 2MB
It's also free connection regardless, and a free modem also if you don't have broadband at all.
It brings the monthly average payments down to £14.24 if you get 3 months free or £15.82 if you get the 2 months.
Not the most competitive but the transfer to them was completely seamless and their customer service support desk contact number is free and 24 hour/7 days a week: something of a rarity
Also all profits go to charity nominated by you.

Looks rather like a derivative of the madasafish offer: http://www.madasafish.com/ Which is a little better. Of course, there is no charity offer.0

Yeah, as I said, probably not the most competitive offer around as far as price goes, but for those 'wee fearties' who might want a name they recognise and 'trust' it might be quite good.
Also the technical support line with Waitrose is an 0800 number which is obviously free. Again, good for those who might need it. The Madasafish support line is 0870 or 0906 which will be national/premium rate. There isn't an alternative number via "Saynoto0870" either that I can find.

I used Waitrose as a dial up provider and thought they were really good. I then wanted broadband, which they didn't do in those days so went with Tiscali
. Will be changing to Waitrose Broadband as soon as I have got the nerve and energy to face the problems everyone says you have trying to leave Tiscali! I think I read somewhere that Tiscali will be providing MAC (is that what I mean?) numbers from September, so that should help, no? Here's hoping so, anyway! [0 -
I'm with them now and transferred from BT last month. The transfer was totally seamless. No problems at all. BT gave the Migration Authorisation Code (MAC) and Waitrose did the rest.
I really can't fault them. The offer of three months free swung it for me and it'll still mean I'm paying a cheaper monthly rate than I was with BT so I'm happy to be saving a few quid a month.
Was tempted by some of the other offers by competitors, but they either don't provide the super-fast service in my area, or I'm maybe not trusting enough to go with a small newbie provider. Too many horror stories of once you're a customer, trying to get out of the contract is impossible!

I'm a fan of Waitrose, but it is the same service, other than the number for support.
The cost differential over 12 months is £26.99. That pays for a fair few calls to Support.
Anyway, you pays yer money yer takes yer choice.
