Help- need microsoft office..please!

Hi, i dont have office on my pc and downloaded open office whic the kids use for their homework etc but we always come unstuck when they need to email things and recently ive found i cant apply for jobs with office forms etc.

I also cant use outlook for my emails is there anyway i can do this without buying it?

I downloaded a free viewer for the first 3 months but that ran out ages ago, just a bit desperate as there are a couple of jobs i want to apply for and theyre m.office and cant get to fill them in and save them

Know this is going to be ongoing problem as ds will be doing gcses next year and need more access...please help clever people!!

What do you mean by office forms, how are they like are they .doc files?

You can also download a free trial from MS website of Office, allowing you to open it up 25 times once activated. This may help you open up the documents you want to.

Openoffice can open, edit and save any MS Office documents (except for Office 2007 but most people can't open them anyway) so I'm not sure the exact problem you're having.

  • 2 seperate jobs wont allow me to save the forms nor anter any data, and like i said its not the first time ive had probs, maybe i havent dowloaded open office onto my pc but ive not had any problems with it apart from anything cross related to ms. office. Id give the link to the jobs but doubt it would make sense to anyone unless you had my pc!!!
Basically i didnt have anything on pc and just downloaded open office, did a 3 month ms office free trial, that ran out and now cant fill any ms office forms that am required to for the jobs i want to  feel im going round in circles cos of course am explaining who have ms office so dont quite get how frustrating it is!

i think the OP wants advice on how to get a 'free' copy of a commercial product, as far as i know there is no legal way of doing this, so i can't help, and it seems highly unlikely that openoffice would be unable to open the docs mentioned, so i'm not convinced its even been tried.

Perhaps your son could buy the cut price student edition of Office? It doesn't have Outlook but does include Word and Excel.

Isit a .docx file? If thats the case then its a Office 2007 File, if its a .doc file then Open Office should have no problems in opening init. As mentioned above there's not a legal way of getting it free!

As for Outlook you could try Thunderbird from Mozilla, an alternative to Outlook.
