If you have space, copy the file somewhere else as a backup, and run scanpst on the original, then when fixed make sure everything is there, and compact it, split it into 2 pst's.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Thanks Albertross - I have already copied the original pst onto a external drive, i have run scanpst on the original but I dont know how to compact or split it into two parts , can you please expand on that bit for me?0

It varies, depending on the version,
Clear out some of the rubbish, with large attachments that may have accumulated, then compact it. Check the size in explorer, if it is well below 2GB you will be ok for a while
tools, options, mail setup, data files, settings, compact.
tools, options, mail setup, data files, add, create a second pst file, this will appear as a new personal folder on the left, then just drag and drop from one pst to the other inside outlook.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

If the PST file will still not open in outlook, you'll need to truncate it using the tool mentioned here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=296088
I posted this link earlier on also,

Based on what technical data, thunderbird does not support Exchange, via Pop3 or IMAP possible but not using the same transport as Outlook, please detail your findings.what ever you do don't 'upgrade' use ThunderbirdSince when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

Whatever you do don't listen to this person!
Upgrading Outlook is fine, do a fresh install if you can, but upgrading has never caused me a problem.
Thunderbird is fine for a freeware program, but it's not really any match for Outlook.- Google is your friend, use it :rolleyes:0 -
Whatever you do, backup the original PST first, before running any tools on it, or upgrading outlook!0
