Hi,
Debating whether to get a 32" LCD or 42" Plasma. Budget is £1k to £1.5k. What would you guys recommend. I appreciate LCD has better picture quality is it worth losing out on that extra 10"
Thanks

I'd go for the LCD screen.. the cons of plasma which stand out to me are the shelf life (half that of LCD), burn in (non-existent with LCDs), and if the screen gets a knock it can damage the cells holding the gases.. only way to fix is to replace the entire screen.
42" would be great thoSimplicity is the ultimate sophistication - Leonardo Da Vinci0 -
I was stuck in the same place as you but with a tighter budget.
I went for a plasma in the end ........ got one with a 2 year CAR warranty for £900 and im loving it.
for £1500 you can get a very nice PW7 screen or something of the same quality.
A friend as a veria and loves it ..... ebuyer are selling the 37" version with a wall bracket and built in DVB reciver for £999.99 and get a DivX player for £1

It was the discovery of liquid crystals that remained stable for a useably long period of time that was the great breakthrough made by the LCD's British inventors.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0 -
If the Aldi Plasma one's come back on sale they worth taking a look. A friend of mine has one connected to pc (P4 2.4) and plays HDTV media. Its fantastic.0

Make sure you ask if it has all the latest connectivity, I can't remember exactly what the new standard is, I can check it out next week if someone with more tv knowledge doesn't post it, but the digital tv signals and high definition tv will be encrypted and some of the bargain plasmas and LCDs are not going to be much good if they won't play the new format.0

HDMI is the latest standard for HDTV connection
DVI is more common though and still great quality.

Plasma is yesterdays technology, High Definintion LCD is the way to go providing you buy one with the correct resolution and connections.
How about a 37" LCD from these people.

I'd say this product is also yesterdays technology, as it only has a 1366x768 resolution.. thats 768 pixels high, whereas proper HDTV needs 1080. Screens of that resolution are known as Enhanced Definition, not High Definition.I hear the cry of the silence around me.0 -
Is that 1080i or 1080p (interlaced or progressive) you are talking about, I suspect you know a little but not enough to post here.
The 37" LCD is true High Def ready, look at Sky's HD site for more info.0
