pipex speed down to 0.5mb!

Options
Hi,
After threatening to leave pipex about 6 weeks ago, they offered to upgrade the package from existing 2mb(of which we were receiving 1.1mb)to 8mb for £4.99 pm.Great I thought ,so agreed to stay(its actually my mums account, was trying to cut her bills)
Have had a nightmare since and am now only getting 0.5mb!Have spent at least 4 hours on phone with tech support(ha ha)and her last bill came in at over £40,due to the calls to them at 10p pm.Still not sorted, don't know what else to do,am worried if we cancel and change provider that we will have the same nightmare again.Any advice please!?

cancelling is probably not an option, in 'upgrading' your account, you probably also took on a new 12 month contract.
get your router stats (connection speed, att and snr)and post them here

My Pipex is meant to be 8mb and I rarely get above 300kbs unless it is early in the morning. Then I get 600.

I am switching on Thursday due to their poor performance in busy times.

Here is the formula to work out what the 576 is: -

    hi,
only stats I seem to be able to get from the modem(D-Link 200)are
    Dx data rate 576kbps
    Tx data rate 256kbps
no sign of att or snr
I find it hard to believe that the speed has halved since upgrading to a faster option.According to line tests it should be able to recieve 4Mb,it is now like having dial up from 5+ years ago!Tech support have told me to leave it on permanantly for 48 hours about 10 times so far but still it is only at snail speed. Is it normal to have the speed go down rather than up?

I am getting the Sky 16mb service. Thought it was silly paying Pipex £24.99 when I can have uncapped Sky for £10.

576 * 8 = 4.608mb connection. At least that is how they tell you to work it out on the website I linked to.
