Re: Why does this not sell?!

Yep I agree with most of the comments...especially abrupt instructions. You want to make the buyer feel all at ease.
I will add one thought....
Decide the day of the week best suited for your target market and the time of day that would suit them best to end the auction.
If you believe it is 16:30 pm on a Friday or whenever have your auction timed to end then.
One slightly amusing thing you have a very hight feedback rating to be asking this question??0 -
Yes I know I have good feedback but I think there is always room for improvement and constructive critisism.
I can't usually be bothered to work out a day when the auction is gonna end, I just try to grab a quiet time when I can concentrate on listing!Sarah x0 -
Thank you! how did you find that out? mine hasn't sold 3 times I have listed.
Searched for completed auctions for the item you were selling. Up popped http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8139023869
Being able to see what things actually sold for (or not) by searching for completed sales is one of the most useful things on ebay. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Then use the scheduled start time facility. Costs about 15p if I remember correctly. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I agree with PMM the timing of the end of an auction makes all the difference. many items I sell do not get a bid unless I end them either in the evening or late on Saturday or Sunday. I would not list an item to end during the day when people are at work unless it was a high end item where serious bidders would be using sniping tools. For books and low cost items people will bid manually and need to be in front of their PC towards the end of the auction.
I'm also careful on days of the week that I use, Mondays are hopeless for some reason, Tuesdays and Thursdays are better, about 8pm when people have time to sit and browse.
What I do to get round this problem is to use Turbolister which is free. I 'load' all my items during the day when I have time to concentrate properly and then in the evening I just click on upload and the whole lot gets placed at a time convenient for selling with very little work for me.

Further to my point on this item the afternoon might be better. Mums at home etc.......
But only careful research will highlight when a particular item's best end of listing time is.
Its horses for courses and knowing when your potential customers are likely to be online.
It will not be the same for all items.
Commodity items such as batteries, PC Ram etc I would list for 1 day and try to pick a time slot when there is little competition. Easy to do on a one day auction.
Individual type items need much more thought to get those bids in and I would normally pick 7 days. However I am begining to wonder if 10 days are better.
For example you decide 20:00 on a Sunday is the best time to end a listing. I wonder if potential buyers the week before will have switched off by the time it lists a week earlier. Whilst with a 10 day listing it gives you two sundays to hook them.
Any ideas?0 -
I have actually never thought about the time. I just stick an item on when it suits me.
Interesting thought though........time..... :-/0
