Yes, I agree, your listing is much better. May be the more experienced seller will be able to advise you. Recently, I was hoping to bid for a new item, I was outbid by 50p, very annoying, it all seems to happen that way. I was surprised to see, there were a lot of bidders for the same item which was in a used condition. This was a piece of medical equipment and I would not really fancy buying it used, it was a glucose monitor. The used item sold more than the new one, what I am trying to say, it's difficult to predict people's behaviour. I hope you have more luck this time.

I agreethat your listing looks better, the only reason I would suspect that the others only get sold in preference as they are offered worldwide to sellers and accept other payments such as paypal.
I would think that international buyers such as americans love these sort of books or that bidders prefer the convenience of paypal and using their credit card

Thank you for your opinions. I did have it available to worldwide but still didn't get any bids! that is the only thing I changed! I do accept Paypal with this book, but have decided to not accept it anymore unless People from other countries want to bid or anyone emails me requesting it because of such of the high charges involved!
Looking at the other auction the bidder is Singapore so your theory looks right! If it doesn't sell this time I am gonna put the price up and make it available Worldwide....see what happens!!Sarah x0 -
            the obvious reason to me....
is the section you have listed it under.... 'books/hobbies'
whereas they have listed it under 'crafts/sewing'
from my own selling and buying experience, a lot of people will look for an item under a specific category rather than search for the items name, smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

Only major and important difference between the two items is where they are for sale
Your is: Books, Comics & Magazines > Non-Fiction Books > Hobbies/ Crafts > Other Hobbies/ Crafts Books
Other Item is:Crafts > Sewing > Other Sewing
Thats why your item isn't getting as high a price.....0 -
Your conditions would send me running somewhere else
"I do endeavour to pack items carefully but do not give refunds on damaged or lost items. Please bear this information in mind before bidding"
Apart from anything else, legally you are wrong - If I buy something and it doesn't turn up, it's your problem not mine. The seller is responsible for safe delivery. Get a COP and you can easily claim for up to £28 anyway.
As for "I will leave negative feedback if I really have to." Well threats before I buy something really make me want to buy from that seller.
I appreciate what you are trying to do, but it is probably putting off the good buyers as well as the bad ones. If you don't trust your buyers, send stuff recorded. That way they are less likely to lie about not receiving it. Also if you threaten to neg someone in your listing, if they perceive they have a problem they will probably neg you first, before trying to resolve things. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Yeah I agree! You really don't have to say any of that.
When selling I never mention returns.
Just put down the bare minimum! You don't even need to mention feedback!0 -

Thank you Wirm I shall relist it under the correct catagory and try again!
As For my payment instructions I suppose they do sound rather abrupt and would put me off! They are not my words but are those of another successful ebayer. I do always retain a COP and do give full refunds and have done if an item has not turned up I have perfomed traces etc and can provide communication as proof, but I have written that to cover myself against any bad stuff. Before I installed payment instructions I felt I was vulnerable to "bad ebayers" and hope I won't as a result of employing advice of people on this board.
I do appreciate your honesty pmm and would be grateful of any advice.
.....I have changed the listing and the prices and will see what happens!Sarah x0 -
Hope you have more luck this time. By the way the other seller didn't get any bids last time they tried to sell and had to re-list.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
