Need to sell my car FAST!!!

Hi Guys

I really need your help and wisdom

we are struggling more than ever at the momment and we dont know where the next meal is coming from

We have decided to sell my car (hubbys drives for a living and needs his)
to be honest i only really use mine for shopping and the school run

the thing is i have 3 dds 6 and under and the school in 2.5m away, my middle dd is in early years and that means she starts at the same time as my eldest dd at 9am but finishes at 11.30 so i think i am going to spend all day walking back and forth, i think i have just realised thats 12.5 m a day!!!

we have no choice if i dont sell and quick we will go under.

can any one advise the best and quickest way to sell, have tried the local garage this morning and he said the cars too old (it is 2001)

Help, i need to do this today, we have hardly any food left, bills to pay, and my huubys petrol or he cant work.

I think it is unrealistic to walk that far sorry!

Do you have a lot of credit? That could be your problem and I would cut down there and consider maybe looking at your finances rather than walking 12.5 miles a day!
  • hey hun what about ebay, autotrader, local paper, free ads, shop windows??

PLEASE dont set your mind on selling it TODAY!!!!!!

You will look desperate to anyone you go and see, garges etc and will be offered rock bottom for it.

I would recomend you wash the car, hoover it take some brilliant photos and put it on ebay and or the autotrader.
You will get a better price generally if the auction finishes about sunday 7pm-8pm as people have done all their chores and kids seem to be on bed, hence time to look on computer.

Do you know what it's worth???
There is a free pricing guide somewhere (I will dig out the link) but again a quickl look on ebay/autotrader will give you a rough guide.

I know it means waiting another week but you will get much more selling private than taking it to a garage.

good point rayday! my dd is three and although she is a good walker she gets tired after school and is far to heavy for me to lug home! could you not sell your car and just get a v cheap run around instead? i guess it would be even worse walking all that way in the freezing cold or pouring rain with children.

You just have to remember its not only about getting your children to school on time its about being in the right frame of mind for a hard days work at school. Believe me children have a lot put on them in education today.

  • hi

    sorry it cut me off.

its not about paying the debts as such, at the moment my hubbys wage is about £1500 down on what it usually is.
so its a struggle we are paying off are debts slowly but surely.

its about feeding my family and my hubby needs petrol to work

And what if you need to get to school quick one day? one of them is ill?

I think you are having a knee jerk reaction and panicking rather than thinking things through.

What if it snows again tomorrow and you have no car?

When we got a company car it cost us a fortune to get rid of the car insurance nearly had to pay the whole year so you could end up with a big bill. Can you get the car off the road for a while? Declare it SORN and cash your tax disc in and see if you can cope.

If your hubbys wages are going to be short for a few months how about sending token payments to creditors and using that money to live off?
