partner and I are separating and I wanted to keep my work and personal life separate, hence not using my company - which is a bit annoying as they're just sold a house in my area so would have had the clients who missed out.

I don't think so. He might have though. The family who lived there must have liked it because they lived in it since it was new - in 1976. :)

Our offer was accepted today though. It doesn't bother me if he died there. The house has a good, homely feel to it.
The lady who lived in this house before us, died here. She'd lived in it since it was new - in 1959. We've lived here for almost 14 years and never gave it a second thought.

Our house went onto the market late this afternoon, as soon as we heard they'd accepted our offer. The estate agent said it would be better to hold off until we'd heard if we'd got the house or not, as we didn't want to end up homeless if we didn't get it. I think they're expecting ours to go quite quickly (fingers crossed!)

:j Great news that your offer was accepted! Good luck with selling your house. My flat went on the market Wednesday morning and have done 11 viewings so far, 3 noted interests and one offer which I am thinking about! Crazy stuff!

I went to see two identical houses today, on the same estate. The first was depressingly dirty and run down. I don't think they had even bothered to wipe down the kitchen worktops! It's being sold by my solicitor and they will be getting some honest feedback on Monday! The other was immaculate and o/o 5K less! I was so taken with it I'm thinking about making an offer!

Good luck to you too. Great that you've had 3 notes of interest already - and an offer! I'm not going to hold out for the highest price I can get - because I need to sell it as soon as possible now. Are you going to put yours to a closing date?

tayside seems pretty stable. 3 bed mid terraced in dundee o/o 122k now fixed at 139,950.

I think we will aim to move summer 2010, give us a bit of time to get rid of silly bits of debt and build up a bit of a deposit in our own right. We are lucky I bought this flat before prices climbed so have a 28k mortgage on a flat, we looked at selling up now and were told to put it o/o 72,500 but expect 85k. I personally can't believe that value but even if prices do stagnent or drop by 10-20% like they are forcasting in england we should be in a great position to buy come summer 2010.

I moved into my current property last June and had it valued thursday past for £39k more than what i paid for it. All i've done is added a bit of modern decor.

£39k in 10 mths, i about fell off my chair:D

Live about 1/2 hr south of Aberdeen :)

Housing market round here still seems to be very strong.

It's not a very fair system but, no-one is going to do me any favours so as much as I'd like to be nice to a FTB, it's probably going to go to a closing date. It will probably sell for between 2.5 and 3 times what I paid for it 7 years ago when I got it for less than it was valued at!

I'm lucky that I have a plan B and if I sell before I buy, I have an accomodation alternative. It may be better for me as I will know exactly how much I have to spend and will not be stressing over entry dates!

Let us know how you get on, twinklefish. My dh says he has a good feeling about our one, and the estate agent said not to put ours on until our offer was accepted on the other one, which we've done. I hope they're both right! My dh is going out of the country next week - for 6 weeks - so i'm going to be left to deal with everything on my ownsome.

Checked the same area and there are now 69 properties for sale with 13 at fixed price.
This is a 18.8% fixed rate as opposed to offers over, so slightly down on a week ago.
I should add in the number of properties which are under offer. 7 of the properties are under offer and all of these are offers over prices.
Makes you wonder the state / pricing of the fixed price properties

Ok checked again and found the number of properties available has dropped.

There are now 51 properties in the area I am monitoring.
    12 are fixed price (23%)
There are 4 under offer (all Offers Over properties)

So far, I see properties are still moving in Aberdeen.
Most of the sales are on properties which are offers over valuations.
Of the fixed price, about half are new build flats
