I'm near Aberdeen. I'm not posting a link to my house
They don't put them on RightMove up here, and you'd all see my proper address.
Anyhoo, it's not a fancyshmancy one (clean, newly painted and tidy though, but no brown leather sofa, new kitchen or laminate flooring lol), and if anyone criticised it, i'd be gutted. :rotfl:
A house went up for sale last Tuesday. We went to see it on Sunday. We noted an interest, and this Wednesday we got a call saying a closing date had been set for Friday. We put in an offer. Got a call saying there had been 3 offers - ours had been the middle one. So, that one took 10 days to shift. I can't believe the speed they're going.
I'm in Aberdeen and just about to sell my flat and try to buy a house! I went to look at a house on Thursday that came onto the market on Tuesday. My solicitors put in an noted interest on Friday morning and phoned me back and hour later to say it was going to a closing at 4pm on Friday with only 4 notes of interest. My offer came third! It's the second house I've really liked where the selling solicitor (the same one!) has pushed it to a really quick closing without anyone getting a chance for a second viewing. Both of the sellers were moving to new builds and it feels a bit like this type of seller is trying to get their old houses sold early with long entry dates cos they read the house price crash threads in here and worry they wont get enough in a few months to buy their new house.Or it could just be the daft Aberdeen housing market!

That's what we think. The house we put a bid in for last week, the sellers were going to a new build, and it wasn't going to be ready until at least July.
I've put in another bid on a house yesterday, with a lowish offer (at the O/O price). Our solicitor still has to get back to us. It's been up for sale for a month with no real interest - but it needs some work doing to it. The owner has died and the family are selling it, so it's lying empty.0 -

The owner die in the home?
That would put me off, but i am a bit superstitious.0 -

For an area I keep my eye on, I checked ASPC and found that out of 46 properties, 9 were fixed price so 19.5%I'll keep an eye in the coming weeks and see if this increases / decreases
Checked the same area and there are now 69 properties for sale with 13 at fixed price.
This is a 18.8% fixed rate as opposed to offers over, so slightly down on a week ago.
I should add in the number of properties which are under offer. 7 of the properties are under offer and all of these are offers over prices.
Makes you wonder the state / pricing of the fixed price properties:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

I don't think so. He might have though. The family who lived there must have liked it because they lived in it since it was new - in 1976.
Our offer was accepted today though. It doesn't bother me if he died there. The house has a good, homely feel to it.
The lady who lived in this house before us, died here. She'd lived in it since it was new - in 1959. We've lived here for almost 14 years and never gave it a second thought.
Our house went onto the market late this afternoon, as soon as we heard they'd accepted our offer. The estate agent said it would be better to hold off until we'd heard if we'd got the house or not, as we didn't want to end up homeless if we didn't get it. I think they're expecting ours to go quite quickly (fingers crossed!)0 -
I'm actually on a day off today as my partner and I are splitting up and I'm selling the house and have had the first estate agent round with another two this afternoon. We paid £350K 18 months ago for a 6 bed house with an acre of land - his advice - put it in at £350-£375K but we will not get more than £400K for it. He said put it on at o/o for 8 weeks then fix it if necessary - now, as I used to work for this estate agents I know that's their policy, but he said the house will take at least 3 months to sell.
It'll be interesting to see what the others say this afternoon
