Okay, whatever you say, I really can't be bothered to quibble (I'm not a Madasafish salesperson)

Good, you would have a job convincing knowledgeable users on here, that MAAF is a better option than BT!

Thank you for pointing out the Post Office option - which is perhaps more relevant to the question the OP asked.

I thought it of relevance to any moneysavers reading this thread, and getting poor advice regarding which company to use. Including you (if you want to save money on your line rental, that is!)

    Happilass -

In response to your original post, if the priority here is that your parents can get a new phone line installed and be up and running easily with a company that they can get hold of easily and will not confuse them with misleading offers and the like, I personally whole heartly recommend the Phone Co-Op.

My elderly parents have recently moved into a new flat and they were extremely helpful and straight forward. Other people seem to agree:

    http://www.phone.coop/about/caring_for_customers.html

The only thing I would say is that it would be a BT Openreach engineer that would come to do any work - but all customer contact is with the Phone Co-Op.

Additionally, strictly speaking this is not a money saving tip, as not all cheapest call options may be available - but it depends what is most important here. However, the Phone Co-Op do not charge extra for paper bills.

    Hope this helps!

You can make use of the phone co-op in a moneysaving way.

Their service does seem better than most, they seem to have good arrangements with BT and get the installation done quickly - also switching on "stopped" lines is done within 24 hours (though at a cost - £5.88).

A new installation is £116, so cheaper than BT.

But their line rental is more expensive than most (£10.90/month), and there are no free calls included.

You could use them to instal the line (they have a minimum 3 month contract), then move over to eg, the post office (via quidco) for a no minimum term service. If you want to leave the po, only 15 days notice.

Not correct, read their website. I have my line rental with Madasafish and my LLU broadband with UKOnline.

I keep seeing the advice "Better to keep your line rental with BT" - personally I think that advice is fine unless you don't use your landline to make phone calls (or only very very few) and you don't want any fancy features like caller display, in which case why not go for the cheapest line rental on the shortest contract? Madasafish Talk is a one month contract.
When I had a fault on my line, Madasafish arranged for Openreach to fix it in a reasonable time and paid me compensation for loss of service & mobile calls to helpdesk with no quibbles - so in my experience their customer service is fine.

    Hi,

I have signed up for Madasafish line rental and waiting for new line activation. Can I sign up for O2?

PS: I have O2 LLU in my area.

You can, but you must give Madasafish notice on your contract with them.

Why, Norman - what's it got to do with MAAF?
