    Update

Bought two, one for my wife and one for my techno dweebie mate, wife hasn't used it yet but mate likes the retro feel, walkman throughback.

After three solid months of use the only criticism I have is the fact it get's easily scratched, yet when it comes to modern tech everything is easily scratched so hey get on with it for £17.

    Would recommend it to anyone.

[/list]I've had this for two days now, and it's AWFUL!

It's really bulky compared to most similar models with the same amount of storage space.
The screen text is tiny and hard to read.
It takes an age to "boot up" - I'm used to instant-on with the likes of the creative zen and ipod nano, but this takes upto 60 seconds flashing "creating database" each time - even if you haven't changed the files on the player at all since you last switched it on. Takes longer to boot up than my P.C.!
A real shortage of play options too - e.g. you can't shuffle all the files on the player, just the ones within a folder.

Very disappointed. Sure it's cheap, but it's a Sony, I expected more. I've had no-brand supermarket models that have been better than this. :(

I'd recommend the zen nano over this, although it is more expensive.

same, got rid of mine and bought a different model... this one feels like it is a couple of generations out of date...

Just to add to the criticisms, it has no "resume" function, so when you switch it off, it doesn't remember where you were - makes it useless for long tracks like podcasts and audiobooks.
