Might be nice for the original posters to be credited for their finds?

Apart from not being drag-and-drop, my other bugbear is the fixed battery in the Sony (and other) players, as if I'm away from a power socket for any amount of time (like maybe a camping holiday or long flight), I can't just stick in a fresh battery when the exisiting one dies.

So, until I see a machine I like that allows for this (I don't care if they keep the fixed battery as well), I'm sticking with my current (admittedly too small) 1GB player that takes AAA batteries.

But some of the Sony players last for over thirty hours ... surely you can get to a computer in that time?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Can't beat but bought one of these £18 B105's from Sony a couple of weeks ago (Drat!) for £35, I have to say after having an original Ipod (6 years ago £350 5 Gb!) and a fancy £20Gb Sony I find the ease of using this one is very refreshing.

I uploaded loads onto by fancy pants sony and hardly listened to it all and got annoyed by having to scroll through loads of stuff to get what I wanted that's not considering the stupid software to get the music on in the firstplace!

So all in all great I'm going to buy another I think for my wife!!

If you're a sony card member you can get hold of the Sports WALKMAN NW-S202FBC for 2000 points. It used to be 11000 points and has been reduced as their connect music service has closed down. Check out the link - http://www.sonycard.co.uk/members/includes/sportswalkman.htm

I deliberated hard between this and the Sony 2gb one. But the Sony one won, hoping build quality will be a bit better etc!

And if you get a Sony card then get one from here without having to spend lots.

Spend any amount whatsoever on it and get yourself a free walkman with the free 5,500 points they give you for nothing, also 3 months interest free!

Actually, just a thought, you could just use the code from the person above to get 2 of them andstill have 1,500 points spare,

    Beat that!

    • Top Deal: Sony NWDB105WC, 2GB, £17.99 delivered.

Play.com's offering this little player, which is effectively the newer incarnation of the one above, for £17.99 with free postage. In addition to its twice-as-big 2GB capacity, it's also allows you to drag and drop music files from your computer straight to it, making transfers easy and negating the need for Sony's clunky SonicStage software. It's rechargeable, and features voice recording capability. On the downside, it doesn't include an FM radio.

I've had this for two days now, and it's AWFUL!

It's really bulky compared to most similar models with the same amount of storage space.
The screen text is tiny and hard to read.
It takes an age to "boot up" - I'm used to instant-on with the likes of the creative zen and ipod nano, but this takes upto 60 seconds flashing "creating database" each time - even if you haven't changed the files on the player at all since you last switched it on. Takes longer to boot up than my P.C.!
A real shortage of play options too - e.g. you can't shuffle all the files on the player, just the ones within a folder.

Very disappointed. Sure it's cheap, but it's a Sony, I expected more. I've had no-brand supermarket models that have been better than this. :(

I'd recommend the zen nano over this, although it is more expensive.
