  • we have 2 - we did have 3 but now we've got organised we only need the 2 bigger ones, so freecycled the smaller one.

now that they've both been emptied we'll fill one completely then start on the 2nd. - except when i was still digging the 2nd one into the ground and had eaten some fruit, the lids were off both and i put the fresh peelings in the nearest one........the one i was still emptying!

I have two also. Very handy. I put everything in, including bits of left over meat. Never had a trouble with mice or rats. but they are both plastic and have lids on and stand 4ft tall but when I put things in, i always dig waste 12inch or more in. Put a bit of wee in now and then and fork through it regularly. Everything is fine. but two is a must.

Or have even more ( we have 3!). I've got plenty of neighbour's who don't compost and therefore have plenty of green waste to boost our supply!

All set up just bought a plastic box with a lid and handles from asda £1.37 looks like them caddies you buy from website that sells bins saved some money there, I decided not to go with the mesh under it as its £7.99 not really money saving .

I have put shredded paper in my bin to start off with then some veggie peeling on top, hope its gonna work i presume that you put a layer of paper then kitchen waste then every now again turn it with a folk Oh and get me son to weee in it every now again. Cant wait for it to compost down.

I have caught the bug asked both neighbours to save me stuff and txt a couple of my friends...sad arnt I LOL

:T wait about 6-9mths and yoll have your first compost...we sieve ours if we are planting up seeds or seedlings but if its just potting up or to mix in the flower beds it dosnet need sieving as the odd unrotted twigs are good for drainage. I potted up some herbs at the weekend with the sieved compost and added a little sand to aid drainage then water in with a little feed just to start it all off.
