Why does only some dvds play sound on windows media player 11 & no sound on others?....Thanks in advance

might have something to do with the codecs you have installed. Are these original dvd's or copies?0

they work on other dvd players in house, just not on pc

What operating system are you running I.E Vista or XP, what percentage don't play the sound? I take it the picture works fine?0

its on XP, yes picure is fine. Only about 4 dvds so far in house that I know of won't play on pc0

Are they all region 2 films? Do they all have a stereo soundtrack on them as well as 5.1? Have you or a friend another computer that you can try them on?0

They are region 2 & I can play them on my laptop no probs...0

Check for updates on the machine that they don't work on.0
