WTC and CTC should be paid if you were getting them prior to going on maternity, they are only paid for 6 months though so if you dont return after that you need to advise them as the WTC element will stop until you go back to work.

so I would get is it 39 weeks of maternity = £112. plus only 26 weeks of working tax credit????

will child tax credit run at the same amount as I get now , for the full term of 39 weeks.
can you go back to work after 26 weeks as I dont know how I will manage the mortgage, bills etc if I only get SMP. I live on my own with 2 children. if so will that mean that I go back to getting my wage plus wtc and ctc ( now for 3 children) ??

Sorry but this is wrong. It is now up to 39 weeks you will be classed as working as long as you are still being paid by the employer.
I think it was last year this changed. If you take unpaid leave, whether after the 26 weeks or the after the 39 weeks, you would no longer be classed as working for Tax Credit purposes.

hi i have got a question, i cant get smp !!! i dont earn enough money and wondering if i can get WTC with MA. my carers allowance will have to stop as i cant get that with MA. everything has been delayed due to no fault of my own and only had my carers allowance and wtc to live on for two months, not happy.

i am in a simalar situation, so i can still get my child tax credit and childcare costs for 39 weeks, after that if i dont return to work i have to inform tax credits as my childcare payments will cease !!!

do you have to tell tax credits you are on maternity leave ??
