Mattress Advice

Hi,

I am looking for a mattress for a slatted bed.

I have gone through all the posts on this forum and what i have gathered is that for a slatted bed, open coil sprung is the best choice.I still have got quite a few ques and would be grateful for any advice:

1.Is there any combination of memory foam with open sprung available & if so,are they any better than simple open coil?
2.Can anyone please recommend that which company should i go for?
3.is there any difference between cage spring & open coil?
4.should i go for single coil or double coil?

We have a slatted bed base with a pocket sprung and memory foam mattress. We got it from mattressman. Can't help with your 'open coil' question I'm afraid.

I would recommend trying them in the shops before ordering though. We did this and then bought on-line.
  • Hi,
I have a sprung slatted bed frame and am also looking for a new mattress. I don't really want to spend more than £350.

I found this memory foam with pocket springs one on ebay - would it be suitable for my bed? Does anyone know if this is a good quality mattress?

Not sure what you mean by 'don't work' but yes we are happy with it. We asked in all the shops before we bought it and all said it would be oaky for slatted base. That said, I have nothing to compare it to as I don't do divans:o

I'm after a mattress for a slatted bed too & I've heard the same. Apparently the springs try to push through the slats.

I heard this from the guy in my local bed shop but the bloke in Dreams said that a pocket sprung mattress would be fine!

I'm starting to get a bit stressed out now lol. Are they or are they not suitable?

I think it can depend on the distance between the slats. If they're too far apart you can add more oryou can put peg board (not solid) on top of the slats.

Thanks. I wouldn't have a clue about adding extra slats lol.

Do you know where you can buy peg board from? Would B&Q or Homebase sell it?

Yes, any diy store should sell it.
