severe disablement premium

I receive Higher care rate DLA and lower mobility indefinitely. I also get Severe disability allowance (SDA) and income support.
I received a letter from the DSS today saying they may have been under paying me! And I maybe able to get the severe disablement premium with my income support cos I get top rate DLA.
My question is will my SDA cancel out the premium they are on about? Thanks for any help

SDA is a seperate benefit that IS will already know about.
SDP is an extra addition to IS payable if you get DLA High Care rate and nobody claims Carer's Allowance to look after you.

Thank you, so i should be able to get the SDP as well as my SDA? My friend who gets Higher rate DLA told me the SDA will cancel out SDP so I was confused.. thank you

If you're under 60 you should also get the enhanced disability premium in your Income Support. It's 12.30 pw so with this and the sdp which is £48.45 you should be quite a bit better off

Sorry kendalls cave, hope you don't mind me butting in to your thread but as it's about disability premiums I would be grateful if someone could clear something for me.

Suelees, you mentioned enhanced disabilities premium which I hadn't heard of.

I am on Income support/incapacity benefit I also receive:

DLA middle rate care
DLA highest rate mobility
I get the IDA premium - 25.25
SD premium - 48.45

There is no Enhanced disability premium - should I be getting this? I just looked up the letter (last April's) from how my IS was worked out and there is no mention of it??

Hi Tobruk, I remember when you were querying your own possible entitlement to the sdp as you couldn't believe you'd get it :idea: !!

Sorry but have to be the bearer of bad news this time. The edp is only for claimants on high rate care (and under 60).

You would need to be in receipt of High Rate Care DLA to receive the Enhanced Disability Premium as the OP does.

Hi Suelees, yes, you were so helpful then (it's a year ago!) and thank you for replying to my post. That is absolutely fine - just wanted to know. I am under 60 but not on High care rate.

if thats the case how come i get it and im on middle care dla
also i got it before i got dla

Hi kkpolobear, now that is interesting, so you are receiving the Enhanced disability premium as well as the IDA premium and SD premium on Middle care rate DLA?

I only found out that I was entitled to the IDA and SD premium this time last year after they sent me a letter stating that they thought I was entitled to more.

That is what they've done with me - sent a letter. Did they back date it for you? I am still worried I won't get it as i already get SDA
