Trying for over 3 months to get 12 months worth of statements off Abbey...HELP!!!

Hi everyone...my partner has to produce 12 months worth of bank statements from the Abbey national to complete his divorce. We have waited for well over 3 months for them to arrive:mad: , despite numerous phonecalls to head office and the local branch. They ALWAYS say the same thing and promise us they will be definately sent out, but we never receive them!!! Its driving us mad, as he cant complete his divorce untill we receive them. He has also been into his local branch and complained.
What else can we do???? Any advice very much appreciated

This is a complete shot in the dark, but have you looked into the Data Protection Act?
You bank statements are personal data and you should be given a copy of them.0 -
has your partner moved recently??? if so the person that inputted the new details maybe didnt process it properly. happened to me once i finished uni, and they were sent to my area but the sorting office sent them back as there was only the 1st part of the postcode. on it along with the door number.
they should tell u when u fone them...*~* Valued Opinions - £40; Quidco - £92.77; Lightspeed Panel - £40; My Survey - £20; Consumer Pulse - £190; Toluna - £44; Ciao - £42.47; GfK - £50; Pigsback - £20; ABAi - £10; Panelbase - £10.45 ; Grassroots - £50 *~* Blue Text = Account now closed

I doubt statements fall under data protection access requests. Indeed, they almost certainly dont.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Another for the address may be wrong - they only changed part of mine too, so it had my liverpool street address, but my old town name and post code. They really r quite dim in abbey0 -

I suspect they may think you want the statements to reclaim bank charges from them and are possibly stalling, though shAbbey are not known as being a shambolic organisation without reason.
Have you lodged an official complaint in writing ? I'm afraid verbal complaints, especially to junior members of staff hold no weight. Once you do they have 8 weeks in which to reslove your issue.0 -

Why not, they contain what you earn, how much you spend, and what on. They may also show that you are a member of certain clubs etc. if you use your bank to pay the subs. They can also show where you've been if you use your bank account to pay for flights and hotels etc.
They also contain your name address and bank account details.
If they are not subject to the Data Protection Act they bl**dy should be!0 -

According to the BBC they do, they even provide a template letter for you to send.

I am going to check with the Abbey tomorrow to see if our address has been processed correctly. Also i will get my partner to write a letter of complaint to them, as even if he has to wait another 8 weeks for the statements, at least we would know they are going to arrive ...lol!!!0

BBC is hardly a reliable source. Its easy to pick holes and inaccuracies in many articles they publish.
Data access requests cost a maximum amount (£10 IIRC). Provision of duplicate statements is allowed to be charged per statement (and is considered a valid charge). So, that doesnt fit with the data access rules.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
