Sale of goods act

Can anyone tell me please if the sale of goods act offers a refund or exchange rather than a repair if the product was faulty at time of sale?
I have one of those dodgy samsung fridges as featured on watchdog so proving fault at time of purchase is not a problem . So far currys will only offer to repair it but I would prefrer a new one.On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0 -

No different to above answers. The OP's use of the Sale of Goods Act is based on there being an inherent fault. That means one that was there at point of sale even if it doesn't present itself for a while. So in principle your case is no different from the OP's. There's no clause as far as I know that requires the retailer to replace instead of repair.
The only circumstance I can think of is if you'd bought it mail order/online, then you can rescind the contract within 7 days of receiving the goods for any reason under the Distance Seller Regulations."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
