I did use the finish tablets but now I use Tescos 3in1 and they work just has good if not better, We do still top up DW with salt every so often as we live in a very hard water area.

I use Aldi's dishwasher tablets. Always break them in half and use my dish washer on a quick wash. Never had a problem.

    My husband wants a dishwasher, I don't. Am I abnormal;) .

I just think it is another appliance, that, if it goes wrong it's just more expense and if it leaks oh god, oh dear me, is it just me:rolleyes:

When I first got our DW I used tablets because we got a sample packet with the machine. But I was shocked when I realised how much cheaper dishwasher powder is. I buy "clean and fresh" powder (tesco sell it) in a big 3kg bottle for £3.99. I use vinegar as rinse aid and whatever salt is cheapest (not too worried about the salt as it lasts for ages)

I think all these DW cleaner/freshener products are a bit of a rip off. After all surely the whole point of a DW is that it cleans stuff?

I'm with you, phizzimum, I started off on tabs then moved onto the Asda 5 in 1 power £1.99 a bottle (lasts ages) and have used this for the last 2 years with no problems.

    Hi all,
i use Morrisons own lemon dishwasher powder and only use about half a tablespoon full per wash and it`s cheap and lasts ages, i use their own brand salt too (think it`s called cyclon cheap again) and white vinegar instead of rinse aid.

The house we are renting at the moment has a dishwasher which I was pleased about. I've used it a few times and tbh am very disappointed. It washes about as well as men do! I've gone back to washing up myself. It's quicker and things are cleaner.

    thanks guys

maypole your not abnormal, i don't really want one but the new house we're buying has a on off swith for the socket that the dishwasher goes into, and it states dishwasher on it, so i thought it how can i have a on off switch for a dishwasher that i don't have, it would just be wrong!! perhaps i'm the abnormal one!
  • We have dishwasher but to be honest it's ok for plates, bowls, glasses etc but rubbish for pans and anything baked on. But do keep an eye out for what washes well. If you are in a soft water area you really shouldn't need salt, in some countries (New Zealand, i think, but i may be wrong) you are not allowed to use salt. if I was getting a new kitchen (lol) I don't think a dishwasher would be top of my priorities.
