in Water bills
That's Water Butt by the way !!
If I have a water butt can I claim that I am reducing the amount of surface water and so claim a discount on my bill. If so, how could I go about it, or how should I word my letter to United Utilities?

I thought you could actually.
You would be reducing the amount of water going down the sewer.
I would try ringing the water company.Sponsored by Tesco Clubcard Points !!0 -
Just found this for you,it's from Wesh Water though, but i would have thought it would be the same everywhere.

A neighbour recently mentioned to me that he gets a £10 discount on his (half-yearly) bill because he has a water butt. Though that wasn't with United Utilities.

Water companies own all of the water in the world, Unless there is a burst pipe which is flooding somewhere in which case the water belongs to anyone but the water companies!
It's a bit like when you die and the priest says " his body and soul were merely on loan to us". That is the same with water, it is owned by the water companies and simply loaned to us for a hugely inflated price :rotfl:0
