Well, I wrote to them saying I wasn't happy with the proposed rate hike and got a very swift reply saying they would increase to 23.9% rather than 29.9%. It's still a helluva jump from 15.9% last July.
Anyone think I will do any better by phoning as suggested by samii in post 26 above?
I suppose it just depends on your profile and who answers your call / reads your letter....
I had no joy phoning twice, but success when writing...

Just logged onto my account and they've dropped my credit limit from 2600 to 500.
I hope they've only done that cos they have seen my balance plummet. I wonder if they lurk on here (Hi Richard, get your hair cut!).
Card will be paid of by next week then I can cancel it and move on to paying the next one off!0 -
