  • Hi,

I'd be interested in hearing what route you went down, and whether you went with Redbrook.

I'm considering doing a self build myself but not sure what level of DIY'er you need to be to do so, any thoughts?

Also thinking about a Durabase floor for it, which Redbrook also recommend. Again any thoughts.

    Cheers.

We went with Redbrook in the end, its being delivered next Friday.

They have already sent the instructions and it dosent look too bad :)

Im building the base this saturday it only needs a slab tybe base as its got no walls just glass to floor.
  • Self build is easy enough I put one togther from Wickes a few years ago
    1) several of the bits were quite heavy
    2) Didn't require many unusual tools but there are many 2 man jobs
    3) if you can extend your central heating system and stick a radiator in then it makes it much more usuable in the winter
    4) polycarbonate roof sheets are easy but go for the triple glazed ones
5)grow tumbler cherry tomatoes in a hanging basket - we picked tomatoes to go with the leftover turkey on Boxing day
    TANSTAAFL !

Thanks for reporting back. What sort of system is it that the panels connect to each other, do the bolt together or have some type of fancy locking system?

Do the panels come glazed or do you have to drop in the glass once constructed?

I like the look of the products on their site, but think there's little information for the conservatory novice, hopefully they're helpful on the phone when I ring.

Have you got much experience for doing this?

    Cheers.

They are very helpfull just ring and ask to speak to the help desk :)

Looking at the instructions the panels screw together using special conectors then trim goes over the joins, the panels come glazed but you have to unglaze then before fitting then reglaze using special security tape so the wont come out.

I will scan the instructions in so you can have a look , i myself am a complete novice and havent done anything like this before :)

Update: Got the base down on Saturday looks good, only 2 days until it arrives :)
  • Excellent, thanks for all the scans etc.

I spoke to them on the phone but apparently they can't help me.

I want a standard 664 Edwardian, but with an additional piece. Basically if you stand in the garden and look at the back of the house, the conservatory will hang off the right hand side of the house by one panels width. Therefore I need an extra panel to come back towards the house to seal the conservartory plus a bit of fascia to cover up the bit of roof area exposed. (hope that makes sense!)

Anyway they told me they could do not offer that, even though they offer a bespoke service. :(
