ICESAVE Keeps savings and ISA rates unchanged!

Icesave have announced that they will NOT be reducing their savings and isa rates despite the recent base rate cut! :j

Also a new 6 month fixed rate bond will be launched tomorrow (12th April) paying 6.86% AER!!! :j :D

    Why do they continue to borrow from us rather than the Bank of England ? Does the BoE know something about them that we don't..?

    I'll admit that I don't know everything about banking, but as far as I understood it banks use savings to pay for loans that other customers have taken out. Look what happened to Northern Rock when they had to take a loan from the BoE. Taking BoE money is not the norm its an exception, and i'm pretty sure an Icelandic bank would have problems getting money from the UK central bank if they arent based here.
