Does anyone have any ideas for getting rid of a rust mark on the bottom of the loo bowl?
Last year the metal end of my ds belt dropped down the loo before we went away for 6 weeks. It eventually flushed away when we came back, but has left a rectangular rust mark which won't shift.

White Vinegar works, you need to soak it a long time and what doesn't dissolve is weakened so it chips away easily. My old loo was like this and I made it good as new.

As for Rust, I know raw potato is good for cleaning rust, maybe you can get rid of as much water from the pan as possible and pile a load of grated potato onto the rust? off the top of my head that was! *edit actually the white vinegar might help with the rust too, so maybe forget the potato idea!

  • Harpic power tabs (in the black box) work an absolute wonder!

Even tho OH managed to get up before me & flush this morning before attacking with the bog brush.

Csooped most of the water out with a small plastic beaker, laid them in 1/2 inch of water in the bottom and hey presto!

    Thanx muchly for the help!

You know the limescale remover tablets you get for kettles and irons?

Turn off the cistern, and empty the water, then poor in the kettle full of this stuff and leave overnight. The limescale sort of peels off in chunks with a little work from a loo brush. Mine was vile when i moved in.
