Filthy toilet!

Options
I know this is an unsavoury issue, but I've been working away from home for 6 months and have come back to a pigsty of a house, don;'t think OH has done anything in the bathroom aside from use it

Anyhoo, I've resanded and oiled my walnut worktops (which cost a bloomin fortune) due to ground in coffee marks, and had a major clean from top to bottom.

My problem is the loo, I have tried EVERY major cleaner out there without success, left them overnight and got down with a rubber glove and a brillo pad but there's still staining under the waterline at the very bottom of the loo which you can see.

I'm guessing some OS stuff will prob succeed where all the Jif, harpic mr muscle etc has failed, but I'm not sure what, bicarb? carbolic acid? soda crystals? Combination? (i'm scared of the bog exploding  )

Also the toilet is wall hung so the bottom is v dificult to get to so if it's something that 'sinks' to the bottom all the better - I can't reach every thing I can see, if that makes sense

harpic power tablets.. left as long as possible.. if the staining is at the bottom put a few sheets of loo roll in too it hold the harpic against the manky bits.

Our loo hadn't been cleaned in about 10 years.. literally!! maybe longer and in 3 days I had a twinkly clean white loo!

I have used caustic soda (VERY carefully). It was the only thing I could use in a blackened toilet that I inherited from a previous tenant in a rented flat. It is amazing, but follow the instructions very carefully. You can get it from the chemist.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Pour half a pint of vinegar and leave it for 8 hours at least, so you have to do it when you're both out and won't be using the loo. Then flush away and scrub well with the brush. You may have to repeat the treatment, but I promise you that your toilet will look sparkling again.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

oh yes i agree with this. 2 yrs ago my DH wanted somewhere to cool his beers whilst watching footy upstairs (he couldnt be bothered to keep coming down to the fridge  ) so what did he do.....

filled the bath up with cold water and popped the cans in there, all fine, till he started moving them around to get them out and scratched our 1 wk old bath

it took him 2 hours to confess and i will not let him forget it!! or clean the bathroom (christ knows what he will break!!!)
