  • Hi

Congratulations on your news, i've got 5 days until due date with my first!

Not sure if someone has already mentioned it, but join all the free mother and baby clubs - boots, tesco etc. I've had loads of vouchers for extra clubcard points from Tesco and used them to buy baby toiletries (usually they've got offers on as well so more saving) so i've got a good stock and also because of all the extra points, when my next statement comes through i'll have over £40 in vouchers which we are converting to travel tokens from the Tesco deals booklet (makes it worth £160) and we're using them to go for a weekend to Ireland at the end of the summer - something we wouldn't be able to afford to do otherwise!

Ebay has been great for things and i bought my cot bedding from Matalan - it's good quality and the most reasonable.

    Good luck!

Check your local council website re reusable nappies as most of them offer money for using them. Ours is £25 but some other councils are offering more than that.

    Just wanted to say congratulations!

Also - keep a list of everything you have got and anything you think you will need - as I'm sure family and friends may ask if there is anything they can lend you /buy as a present etc.

And if you get any 'not so useful' presents or doubles or clothes with the labels still on - don't feel embarassed about returning them. :D

    Congratulations!!

That comment about the baby bath being for keeping your ironing in made me laugh because it's SO true!!!

I agree with everyone else who mentions Freecycle - it's a wonderful, wonderful thing! I also have a site called BabywearExchange.com, where parents can buy & sell baby and children's clothes without listing/selling fees.

    HTH and congrats again!
