Homecall were in the news for being rather innacurate with their cold calling, a judge awarding BT £150,000 damages. HOWEVER Homecall are not mentioned in your Internet article, and after a disasterous swap to Madasafish, who I dumped, and suggest you all avoid, I went to Homecall who currently supply my phone. Most of my calls are to my three kids who live around the country ( and vise versa) I now have Internet also with Homecall. For £34.99 I get 2Mb connection, unlimited download, Line rental on my phone, and free evening and weekend calls. All of my calls to my kids and back are free as they also are on Homecall ( minus mobiles and specials) for £39.99 I get all calls free. I rekon this has to be a cracking deal. Please prove me wrong.

I'd never heard of this company, so I had a look around the net to see what I could find out about them. First of all, Homecall don't supply broadband themselves. They do it through the Tiscali network. Currently Tiscali and Bulldog are the two most complained about broadband providers in the UK. This does not bode well.
I found THIS site that had 22 reviews from customers of Homecall. Every single customer was complaining about them. They also rated Homecall as follows
Content 1.4 out of 10
Value for money 2.5 out of 10
Overall value 2 out of 10
These are awful rating from their own customers!

DO NOT USE HOMECALL
This company, is the worst company. I have ever had the misfortune to use.
Nearly 3 weeks ago they cut my phone line, and then they cut my broadband.
After continuous calls to this company, and many lies later,
They have finally admitted they are in the wrongh. There customer services is appalling. They have offered me no solutions to problems of there making.
Find other Homecall customers thoughts on THIS site.
I hope your experience with them is better than I've seen others report. Good luck (you may need it).How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

by the way one customer had a teething problem with billing, but other than that fine, me too!!!!0

E7even was down for most of the day not long ago and today I recieved an e-mail from them saying that I have been given 1 week extra free subscription, the offer is also given to all the other customers of E7even who were affected by the "Outage". I'd say they are a good ISP, been with them ages, prices are very good and they are reliable.0

I don't know what this refers to, but it isn't for any of the links provided in this thread. In my first post, I gave a link to 22 reviews for this company. ALL 22 REVIEWS reported problems with this company.
It doesn't take too much looking around the net to find LOADS of complaints about Homecall. It would seem like you are extremely lucky not to have any problems yet.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

In defence of madasafish....
I migrated to them from Virgin. The migration and bandwith upgrade were completed well within the alloted times.
Four months of free broadband use. Works out to £12 per month.
Virgin, on the other hand, Still owe me money. A real bunch of idiots.
Edit: Virgin have finally paid up, after nearly two months of phone calls(I made them pay for the calls) Very poor customer service.
I was due a refund from them after I had migrated away from them. Instead of the refund, they took an extra amount of money from my CC.
It took multiple emails and telephone calls to make them realise their mistake. Then the broken promises followed.
After all this time they have paid up without a word of explanation of why they took the money in the first place.
The whole episode was poorly handled by Virgin staff/management.0 -
It's not even an amazing deal...
I'd stick with BT as I'd know what my charges were for special numbers etc
Onetel, who at least USED to be very good, offer the internet call package for £24.99.
Aha...Caudwell Comms(Homecall)...from the people that gave us Singlepoint. I'd give it a miss.0 -
Homecall's cold calling technique leaves a great deal to be desired. They won't actually tell you how much line rental or calls are just keep telling you that they can reduce your last bill.
They base their charges on BT and tell you that they are cheaper but not by how much. When I quoted them 2p per call at anytime (18866 charge at that time) they eventually conceded that they couldn't beat that but this took several phone calls where they tried browbeating other people in the office.0 -
I agree entirely with the earlier Rex_Mundi.
I also consider Homecall to be the worst company I have ever done business with. My problems with Homecall include:
1. Taking well over 1 month to provide me with a working ADSL connection after first signing up with them. This took a large number of phonecalls and a recorded delivery letter to spur Homecall into action.
2. Repeatedly billing me twice for Homecall Broadband and repeatedly failing to resolve the matter despite many broken promises from Homecall customer services. Only resolved after over 90 days of me being given the run around - they appeared rather more helpful when I advised them that I was considering taking the matter to the ombudsman.
3. Apparantly Placing my account on a "restricted user list" due to my level of usage (they confirmed this me by email). For a period of time after this the connection was virtually unusable and certainly much slower than dialup. I recall chosing Homecall initially because their product was described as "Unlimited". From my experience I can only consider this claim to be bogus.
My advise - buyer beware!!!!!0
